Default K&N air filter

Does anyone know if K&N makes an air filter for the GS400? I called around to several auto parts stores in the area and 5 out of 6 told me that K&N doesn't make it for the GS4. One guy told me that they do, but I'm a bit skeptical based on what the other 5 guys said. Does anyone know for sure? Better yet, does anyone have one? If so, where can I get one? Does it make a difference in terms of performance, gas mileage, sound?

K&N makes a replacement filter as well as a filterpack intake. Other replacement filters are the TRD and TOMS.

Thanks. Of the three air filters you mentioned, which one would you recommend?

Gotcha. I'm not looking to replace the air intake. Just a simple drop in filter. Does anyone out there have a K&N? Like I said, I've been told by 5 different people that it doesn't exist for the GS4.

word is the stock cotton filter is just as good or better than k&n. plus you don't have to worry about oiling or over-oiling filter.

I guess I'm just bored and looking to do something relatively inexpensive. In the end, it's probably a waste of money.

I've run K&Ns in various cars and motorcycles for over 20 years; I put 'em in everything. I've got a K&N drop-in. I drilled a 1 1/2" hole in the front of the airbox. The setup works great. The P/N for the drop-in filter is 33-2137.

So you'd say it's worth it? Does it give the car a little more growl in terms of sound?

eman,

you are not going to get a growl from putting a k&n replacement filter in the stock box.
the growl comes from a short intake or cold intake that uses a cone type air filter.

not too sure but i hear the aftermarket intake are not worth the money.

get a tom's replacement filter, no oil needed, just wash with soap and water and replace, that easy.

they my have some at carson toyota.

A little, which is what I wanted. I didn't want it to sound like the secondaries opening on my old Nova SS

I'm looking at the K&N box now for the drop in for GS400.

The part number is 33-2220 washable reuseable high-flow air filiter

Warrantee for 1 million miles of 10 years

Someone gave this to me after he wrecked his gs400. Have not tried it yet. Anyone have results on this?
