Default License Plate Light

I have a light out on my rear license plate, on a 2001 GS430. I don't see any screws on the outside, so I assume I have to undo the rear trunk paneling to access the light from the inside.

So does anyone have a good tip on how to remove those trunk paneling clips/tabs without tearing them up? I always damage the tabs when trying to undo paneling in cars, and I hate it when they get damaged and then don't work properly.

I probably should just go to Lexus and order some spare ones though, that's probably the safest bet.

Hey Kevin. I've removed the carpeted portion on the underside of the trunk lid several times and I believe it has the same clips/pegs. What I usually do is to insert a small flathead screwdriver (really small) through the opening on the top of the peg. Then, holding one hand on each end of the screwdriver, apply pressure directly out and, with a little wiggling, they pop right out with no damage.

Thanks guys. I'll hit the local autoparts store and look for the clip removal kit. I need one bad, or I'll destroy all those damn clips trying to pull 'em out.
