personally i would never run stretched unless i am forced to. yes it might be the trend for vip in japan, but for me i wanna drive my car the way it's supposed to be, and i want more grip

 

Johnny , the wheels look amazing and I would run a stretched tire set-up but thats just me.. Maybe a 235 in the front and 245 in the back or 245 in the front and 255 in the back so that you have a slight stretch and still have some rubber on the rim....

 

Does anyone have a photo of a stretched setup, I cant envision it.

So the stretch is the fact that it doesnt quite reach the edge of the rim, right ?

That is correct..Typically running a stretched tire allows a wider wheel and fender clearance so that rubbing isn't an issue..And some like it and some don't , and thats fine..to each their own..

 

yes but you also run the risk of blowing the bead on the tire if you turn too hard or hit a pot hole

 

I can live with the fact athat some just like how it looks but, why would you want to run a wider wheel and not a wider tire for reasons other than astetics?

I mean you can fit 285 on a 19X10 easy so why would you want to reduce traction and run a 245?

 

people would run a smaller tire to clear the fenders because they may be running a higher offset wheel..Traditional wheel offset may be +42or+48 in the rear.. but some choose to run +24/+35..this is where the scrubbing may occur and by running a smaller tire it allows clearance for running such an aggresive offset..

 

Okay next question why would you want such an offsett?

 

Most of the time: lip size.

I know it is a Japan VIP thing but I would be nervous running a stretched tire setup. Whether he likes it or not, JunctionGS's car is the JP demo car here so it is beneficial for him to maintain that image. Most of us don't have that restriction. Unless it is mainly a show and very occasionally driven car, I would go with the traditional setup for everyday use. But that's just me.

well, most of the time people want the lip, but i guess it's just a "tradition" or "way" how jdm people are doing it. they want to get lower offset, the lip sticks out, get stretch tired, slam the car, and the top of the lip just touches the fender. they think that's cool.

well it's just them. to me i dn't see the point, that's just me
