GS350GT With 600HP!!!
Hi all,
I was thumbing through a July issue of Car And Driver and stumbled across an article regarding Lexus' plan to introduce GT models to compete with the M series BMWs and AMG Benz. There was also talk of a 5.0 liter V8
The 2006 GS350GT is to have an electric and gas combo engine with 600 HP driving all wheels. I searched for this article online and found nothing.
Has anyone come across such information?

I don't buy it one bit! Lexus is too conservative to reach those HP #'s. I would expect to see HP #'s around 400-450 first before 600.

I think what they are doing is adding HP from both the Gas engine and the Electric engine which actually cannot be done. You cannot simply just add both of the HP's together to get a true reading. Either way, 600hp is a bit much..... my guess is maybe they tried 450hp engine coupled w/ a 150hp electric engine.
As the gears and RPM's climb up, the gas engine lets down a bit while the electric engine kicks in to conserve that gas.
Does this sound right? but 600(real) hp is just way too much for Lexus to shoot for.

I found some references to the article I read yesterday. However, this article doesn't make the GS, IS or LS sound nearly as aggressive. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...int&id=1311352
As has been said on this thread, perhaps these numbers are more realistic.
