This decision should be a no brainer. RWD vs FWD. If you can't tell the difference or it simply doesn't matter to you, stick with the Honduh.

Yeah i guess your right. But even so, Lex vs Honda, Lex anyday. Holds a certain amount of status.

I hate to admit it, I sold my GS and bought a Honda Accord, and nine months later hated it. The seats were cheap and hurt my back, the whole car felt plastic and drove cheap and the gas mileage sucked.

I traded it in and bought a 430 since I had to have a GS again.

Stay away from any V6 Accords from 99-03. They all had major transmission issues...same thing with 99-03 TL's.

Here's unbiased opinion. I own a acura... honda i mean but don't own a lexus. Both great cars. Accord is a little sportier but the trannies are weak. Plus it's a FWD. I'm partial to RWD.

GS is great with RWD and plenty of luxury. Overall maintenance will be alot more than accord and from what I've heard somewhat dull when it comes to handling and performance unless you get into mods.

But because of the tranny issues with accords I'd go with the lexus.

Default My 2 Cents

I recently bought a GS400 after cross-shopping everything from a 2004 Acura TL to a 2003 Accord and Corolla

The build quality of the Lexus and Acura are superior to Toyota and Honda. The doors are heftier and close with a thud. The interiors are well-done (Lexus leather is very high-grade)

Simply put, the Accord is a more practical choice. Drives fine, reliable, less in maintanence costs, plenty powerful for most driving. Unless you are getting a manual transmission, a lot of the joy from the VTEC engine will be wasted as the tranny will shift before the 2nd cams come online. Honda makes a stiffer standard suspension than Toyota which is a plus in my book.
The Accord should also get you better gas mileage.

The Lexus is more of a driver's car. It is RWD with a straight six (more usable torque) that you don't have to spin to 4000 RPM. I would definitely get a GS300 with eShift as being able to make the Lexus hold a gear is really useful (freeway merges). Now the GS is a heavier car and sometimes drives that way. I have a GS400 and sometimes I feel that the engine and tranny overpower the suspension (too soft in stock format for me to cane with great confidence). This can be improved with mods, the easiest being good, sticky tires. The Lexus is older and farther down the depreciation curve so I think it would its value better over the long term (say 5 years). At the end of the day, Lexus were designed to be $40-50K cars when new, so they are built to a higher standard.

Let us know what happens

Go with the GS. Unless you want a car everybodies mother and teacher has. Since you won't have a warranty take the GS to A toyota dealer a lot cheaper than a Lexus stealership for the same kind of work. Think about it would you get a 2000 BMW 528i or a 2004 Altima.

My previous car was a 99 Acura 3.2 TL.....I'm not biased at all. Honda/Acura had major issues with the tranny's on both accord and TL's. I know from expereince.

Buy a GS 430 or 400. You will not regret the decision. I have an accord as a commuter car and its just a beater to me. Once you go lex you'll never go back.

Very well said.
Something that you might want to take into consideration is snow... Don't know how much Washington gets, but I PERSONALLY won't drive my GS400 on the snow again.
I didn't know about the tranny problems on the 99-03 Accords so that is something to consider.
My vote... If you have a beater for the snow, GS
If you don't have a beater, Accord

My $.02
