Henry is really close in the offset department.
The front is 20x9 +36. I found I had to do NO fender work for this. I even left the small black arch trim in place.
Under the advice of Jeff (TTurboPimp), before I installed the wheels I pulled the plastic fender liner down and "massaged" the vertical seam at the top of the inner fender. Basically, this piece runs transversely (side-to-side) and runs away from the front strut top. The massaging consisted of heating the seam with a heat gun and smacking it with a dead blow hammer so it is 'aimed' towards the rear of the car, instead of straight down at the tire.
This may not be 100% necessary, but I had heard cars with 20" wheels would ocassionally rub in this region when the suspension was fully compressed.
The rear WAS 20x10 +35, but before I installed the new Yokohamas a month ago, I widened the rear INNER rims by 1/2".
That makes the rear wheels now 20x10.5 +41. I like the way the 285/30-20 sits on this width.
I had to remove the OE black fender arch trim, trim the fender (I cut about 1/4" of it away, but I left the seam where the inner and outer fenders attach intact. Also, due to the ultra-low disk level of the wheels, I had to trim a bit of the axle snout off for center cap clearance (I knew this would be an issue when I spec'd the wheels). This axle trimming occurs outboard of the OE cotter pin, so there is no safety issue.
The wheels have not been sold- I simply mentioned the SC 430 becuase it would be an "easier" fit than the GS (basically, the SC would require no fender mods- the GS would. I suspect that if you stretched a 275/30-20 on the 20x10.5 this would work on the GS with no fender mods.
Well, I am off to SEMA- I'll be sure to take lots of photos! I'll check in next Monday!
Regards,
Bob
