Default L-Tuned Side Skirt Installation Help

I just got the L-Tuned side skirts and was wondering how people removed the old push tabs holding the stock side skirts. Is there a special tool I need? I tried to remove one and it ended up breaking on me and it looks like the others will break too if I try to remove them. Also, will leaving the other end of the broken push tab in the metal frame of the car cause rattling when I'm driving?

Thanks,
MIke

use pliers to remove them....some will break, and the other half will be floating around in there....its sooooo light....you wont hear anything rattling when driving...believe me.

What he said...

Also, a small jewelers screwdriver can be used to push in the middle hole which might help some but on most of mine I also had to use the pliers technique. A couple broke but I don't hear anything rattling either.

I'm getting these too. I was wondering if they are stock replacements or do they go over the existing skirt?

When i removed the old one, I broke almost every single one and left the remain parts inside frame.

Henry told me it's easy to just press the center but i don't see it's that easy.

Now due to the color issue on the side skirt, I have to remove them again

Hope Darral from lexus-parts will give me another bag of clips

Do the aero kits from Darrel come with all the new pop in fasteners?

I am still waiting for mine, they are being painted by Sewell.

BTW-Has anyone received aero kit painted by Sewell from this deal yet?

I didn't bother trying to pull out the old clips (total waste of time). I pulled the skirts straight down towards the ground and the old clips broke and fell out. I used a screw driver to knock out a few of the clip shafts that remained in the body.

Total installation time including removal of old skirts: 30 minutes.

Improvement in the overall look of the car: PRICELESS!!

Comes with new clips....use them....do NOT be cheap and re-use old clips....unless you really have to.

I can see there's a small hole in the middle but that's so small, just like a pin hole. Are you sure using screwdriver to push in will help it come out?

The clips that have the button in the middle are not the ones on my GS. I think maybe people are confusing the clip type. There are clips with a little button in the middle you push and it releases the clip. My es has those in some places if anyone wants to see a pic of that style let me know.

I did the same thing as Tomtnc. Don't bother trying to save the clips, just rip them off. I had reservations about using this technique because the broken clips might rattle around in the car, but i haven't heard any rattling.

Ray- there is no way to unscrew those clips. Just rip them off.
