I agree, with the masses 2003/2004 the new GS will be here, but not to radical, very similar with what's out now......

I doubt Lexus is waiting for Merc and BMW before making their decision. I think you people under estimate just how much development and though goes into a car. Hell, even cheap chryslers take years to go from the drawing board into reality. Sure, they could take some minor things and make changes, but the care will probably be 95% of what they want it to be before those cars come out.
Of course, I don not work for the automotive industry. But I think I have read enough magazines and the WSJ to know a bit about this. But then again, most my friends think I'm a goof off...

zz231, you are not too meticulous - i agree with you about the hand brake.
Here is what motor tread says about the next GS at http://motortrend.com/future/2003_2.html
"2003 Lexus GS: Rear-drive sport sedans to be redesigned."
Not very much information, no pictures, but gives a time frame. Check to page out, there are many interesting pieces of information about upcoming vehicles - i'm excited
I really like the look of the pontiac vibe (what the aztec should have been) and the toyota matrix. They'll take some of the sales from the PT Crusier. There are so many crossover 'utes on their way STILL. Similar to the RX, X5, or rather, but to compete in the price range with the likes of the Highlander.

GS redesign
I read in Autoweek (early April) that the RX300 and ES will be redesigned for 2003 and the redesigned GS will be 2004. Sounds reasonable. I find it hard to believe all 3 models will be redesigned same year. Autoweek seems to be pretty reliable.
