i think lex is waiting for the final pics and specs of both the 5 series and Ecalss that are due out next year. then lex will decide the final design and specs for the next GS. the point: the gs would have to be a winner AGAIN.

Even if they take the 1st gen GS route, then the next gs should be here in 2003. The first GS300 came in 93, then updated GS400 in 98, 5 yrs later. If you don't count the GS430 update, which wasn't much, then the next GS should be here in 2003. But now that i think about it, I guess you would have to count the 01 GS430 update since it was a big enough update for them to change the numbers (400 to 430) and if you do count it, then 5 yrs later next gs will be here in 2006. Oh well, I still think there will be a new GS in 2003.

Default i think so

i just took a look at the motortrend.com site, and the nexts gs should be arriving in 2003. as i said earlier, both 5 series and the e-class will be out by fall of 2002. though current gs still looks fresh, lex would still bring out the 3rd gen gs in order to be the best in sports sedan once again. it is very simple: marketing strategy 101- wait for what the competitors are bringing to the party and try to top their offering.

if rumors about the next 540s with ~340hp is true, i think the next gs4 would also have performnace in the same range. by then such engine could also be applies to the LS4 when it gets HP boost and minor face lift to combat the new Q45.
HP wars, i like it.

such is especially true when the current new gs sales figures are slowly tapering down a bit. so for those who are in the market for the current gs, the price is very attractive for such an awesome car.

i was thinking about trading in my gs3 for a gs430 but i guess i'll wait and see when the new one is coming out.
wouldn't be nice if they put a 5.0 liter in the next one?

Default how about this

GS430 was considered a mid-model year face-lift. so i do expect a 3rd generation GS will debut in 2003.

this is what i like to see for the next GS:

GS350- inline 6
GS450, 480 or 500 V-8, with 350hp, 5 secs. 0-60, ~105 ft 60mph-0 breaking distance with a firm feel like the IS300.
17" wheel as a no-cost option for those so desire, with 245/45/17 tyres.

optional sports pkg: 18" wheels, some sort of subtle body kits, torque converter, may be LSD. firmer suspension and steering.

anyone has more inputs?

If the 3rd gen GS would debute in '04 as a '05 model then I would be happy. From the looks of the new SC, the next GS is gonna be NICE!!!

If those are true, I may consider selling my GS430.

how about a hand brake that is actually a hand brake. they should make it a lever to the right of the driver in the center console like all the other sport cars and sedans, instead of the pedal down below next to the brake pedal !! not that it makes a difference but it'll look way way better. oh, and make the audio and climate controls separate from the navi screen, kind of like in the new sc. it gets annoying sometimes when you have to switch screens to adjust audio and climate controls. am i being too picky? i love my gs, but i want the next one to be perfect.

Quick Reply: the next gs? anyone?
