Cool I am new to the GS family...

Wassup guys, I am new to the GS family. I just bought a '02 GS300 for $25K. The car ran for 28,000 miles. Do you guys think is a good deal for 25K??

I need to get a spare key, I only have 1 master. I contacted the Lexus dealer down here in New York. They charging almost $350 per master key and 150 for valet. Does anyone know any good deal on the internet?

Thanks,
Al

Welcome Al!

Check with our CL vendors (there was a good group buy in the 'approved vendors forum' for keys not to long ago.

Also ClubLexus members get a 15% off deal at Lexus of Manhattan for parts and service, so that should help should you get it locally. https://www.clublexus.com/index.php/link/category/4/

Also ebay if you want to try DIY

Albert,

Welcome aboard. I believe you can have a spare key made at the DMV location in Brooklyn on West 8th st. There is a specialty locksmith with all kinds of transmitters (including Lexus) in the DMV building. Just bring him your original key and make sure you have your car so that he can program the transmitter for you. He charges somewhere in the range of 1/3 the price Lexus is quoting you. EVEN LESS!!! Worth a shot, hope this helped.

Thanks guys, I am in Bayside New York. I heard about the place outside the lobby of the Brooklyn DMV. I called them up today, they said they are doing the master key for 90 bucks include programming. I am still not sure if I am gonna do it through them, I am afraid they might make an extra copy for themselves. It's probably safer if I do it through the dealer, however; the price is very tempting though. I called up one of the Lexus dealer in NYC, they charging 225 for a master plus 90 bucks programming.

I will post up the pics this weekend, I am swamp with work. Mod on the car is certain, any suggestion would be welcome. The first thing I would want to change are the rims, I don't like the ones on there now.

Al

$90 for programming the car's computer to recognize a new key is an absolute RIPOFF! I did it myself when I bought a new key off of ebay in like 5 mins. You can also make the car "forget" any other keys other than the ones you have thereby ensuring that no previous owner or anyone else can have access to your new baby.
