It seems that in my 99 GS 300 the radio is now missing the tops of some of the numbers. For instance: the top part of CD doesnt show up, and one of the numbers in the cd time seems to be messing up now also. Is anyone else experiencing this, and since its not coverd by warranty, I would like a good recomendation on a aftermarket radio. My budget is $800. Thanks

Hi 99LexusGS_300,

Well, I had a similar problem with my radio/CD player (Nakamichi). One day all of a sudden, the CD player froze and wouldn't turn on again, however the radio was working just fine.

So I called the Lexus Service Department and they said they would replace it. But just hours later the CD player was working fine again and I haven't had problems since.

My point being that the dealership you bought the car from ought to cover such problems under warranty. I would call them back and speak with a different person, don't buy a second CD player just yet.

Question Yeah - Why No Warranty?

I'm with these two - why wouldn't it be covered under your warranty? I had my non-Nak CD changer replaced twice in the first 3 months of ownership for freezing up - of course, then I got bitten by the audio bug again so it didn't matter! FWIW - if yours is a non-Nak radio & U want to just replace it, I think I still have my original one & will be glad to send it to ya just for the S&H charges. If not, consider what U want the new radio to do ( MP3, CD changer control, etc ) & head on down to a few shops in your area or pick up this month's copy of Car Audio magazine for it's 2001 directory of available equipment.
sTWO - What R U doing in Metairie ( kinda my neck of the woods as I used to be the only Louisiana member - or at least the only one who'd admit it!! )

MeanGene,

Hehe, yeah I'm not the biggest fan of Louisiana(mainly because of the crummy roads). I'm here for college though, but my real home is in Houston. I'm often making trips back and forth to visit family and friends.

Thumbs up Close!!

Justin - Man, let me know if ya ever come over to visit your Dad!! BR's only 125 miles from Alex & I have some rental property there so I can write the trip off ( hey - don't anyone tell the IRS! ) In fact, I lived there for 5 years before moving back home to Alexandria ( born & raised here ). I wanna see & hear your COPYCAT system!! LOL!! I even bought the GS in BR & if I need service, a road trip is in store but at least I get to hit Hooters ( not one in Alex - d***!!! ). sTWO's right about the roads though - why do ya think I won't go larger than my 18's or lower it/add a full body kit. It just wouldn't survive - either that or my teeth would shatter!!

Default Hey Mean Gene...

I need your stereo. My display is fading. I have the non-nakamichi system (pioneer ) in my 98 Gs 400. It's out of warranty and I would pay you for much more than just shipping and handling . Thank you
