Why you trying to fight me on this? It was just a hypothetical question. And I'm sure there are many totalled or blown up GSes out there.

I was expressing an opinion, that the swap posed a lot of problems for very small potential gain as the desired result is readily available as a factory prepared version. And from reading the posts of others, I'd say that most who commented on this agreed with me. I'm sure there are far more totaled GS's than blown up ones. The auto dismantlers tell me that the Lexus engines have a very low salvage value because there just isn't that much demand for them, they seem to run forever so very few every require replacement. From personal experience I can say that's true. The oldest Lexus I currentlly own is a 1992 SC400 which I purchase new in June of '92.
It drew far more interest at EOS v.3 than my GS400 did, in large part because the odometer reads 334,450 mi. I have to admit, I never babied that engine. Often exceeding factory recommendation on oil change and service intervals. It still looks new and runs strong, smooth, and quiet.

The chances of you blowing up a 2JZ-GE bottom end would be slim to none unless you pour cooking oil into your gas tank (for example). The 2JZ-GE basically shares many parts with its bigger brother the 2JZ-GTE and as most of you probably know, there are 10 year old 2JZ engines with single turbo pushing 700-800hp daily driven and even tracked with stock internals and they are completely fine. This is just a testament to how strong the 2JZ block is. Toyota wasn't kidding around when they built this engine and you gotta be a seriously retarded driver to really blow up a stock 2JZ motor.

Chuck, I know you were talking about it hypothetically, but hypothetically, it's darn near impossible to blow a stock 2JZ-GE motor unless you literally take a jachammer and break that engine in two. (Then again, I also heard that it's supposed to be bullet-proof too, so it won't be that easy breaking it hehhe).

What if the timing belt goes?. Would that blow the engine?

I think these are non-interference engines. So if the belt did break, the worst thing that'll happen is you being stranded.

I think the non-interference part is true for the pre-VVT-i engines. However I am not so sure about the ones with the variable valve timing (ie the 430).

Jon- yeah I heard that too, the part about being bullet proof I mean. I think I read somewhere that Toyota spent close to $400 million in development costs when they designed this V8 engine originally back in the late 1980's
