Default GS4 drivetrain in a GS3?

Just curious, has anyone ever put a GS4 motor/trans in a GS300?

Just curious, why not just START out with a GS400 in the first place?

I was just wondering, maybe someone with a high mile G3 stumble across a junkyard GS4 or something.

Swapping out for a 2JZGTE I can understand...but for the V8 doens't make a whole lot of sense since they're already readily available.

Exactly my point. In most cases, an engine/tranny swap is undertaken to achieve a hybrid that is otherwise unavaiable thereby creating something unique and unusual. Why go to all the trouble of putting a 4.0 L. (or 4.3 L.) engine in a GS300 to end up with something that is not unique and is in fact readily available in the marketplace ie. a GS400 (or 430). I understand there is not a very high demand for engines as they so rarely break down.

if you had a blown up 300 you loved you wouldn't want a V8?

I think the point that he's getting at is that it's just not realistic. If you blow your motor on your GS300 then you either sell the car and get a GS4xx or replace the motor with another Inline 6. It would be more realistic to replace the motor with a 2JZGTE with a larger turbo which will get you closer to 400HP. And it should be less expensive too...

if you compare the prices, putting a new inline 6 and then turbo will be cheaper. i know

Short of running it under water, how many blown up 300s or 400s have you seen?

Redline it every time you hit the gas. I'm sure it'll need a rebuild after 4-5 years of this abuse
