can i get a lil help with my 1999 gs300...
i bought my car on the 28th.. and the guy said the car was platinum series.. i was wondering if there was any way i could check for this? i saw a gs400 platinum series.. but it had a badge on the side- but mine doesnt.. did i get jipped? heres a picture of my car..
the wheels are diablo 7-hart 19'' on falken tires.. im working on the tints and the rear wing.. any ideas? nothing too crazy that would sacrifice the look and aura of the lexus name.. im also thinking about upgrading the sound system with 2 12''s with a couple of amps.. but i heard its hard to mod the sound system on this car? HID's are also coming.. just as soon as i get the money.
also- do any of you guys use airfresheners in your car? like air spencers?

I didn't think the Platinum series came out until 2000?
For what it includes you could either search the forums here (hint hint ) or look on the Lexus website
http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_detail/gs/300/2000.html
This is for 2000
Platinum Series
- Bird's-eye maple interior trim and shift ****
- Perforated leather trim on center section of seats
- 16-inch, seven-spoke performance alloy wheels
- Black Pearl badging
- Platinum Series embroidered floor mats
- Power tilt-and-slide moonroof
- In-dash, six-disc CD auto-changer
- Large chromed exhaust tips
1999 doesn't list it as an option
http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_detail/gs/300/1999.html
Edit - you have the right badges on back (but so do I and mine isn't a platinum edition - I added them).
Easiest way to tell for sure is your seats.... are they perforated (little holes) in the middle?

There is some 3m double sided tape members have used to reattach badges. Needs careful trimming so it doesn't stick out the edges though.
Can also just get a new one OR debadge your back entirely.

www.l-tunedparts.com is where I got mine. Plus he's one of our forum sponsors.
I don't think they have them listed as parts on the site, just use the contact page to ask if they can get them. You should be able to order just the piece you need (not the entire set).

if you are asking about air fresheners because your AC smells funny, you probably need to change the cabin air filter. They get a weird, almost sweet but rotten type of smell when they are old or dirty. Don't ask me why.

or... just do what i did...
mount your air freshener into your cabin filter. that way it's always available, not over powering, and never in the way.
Don't waste money on buying a factory cabin air filter. Just cut up one that you use for your home AC unit.
