I've thought about replacing my rear view mirror with one that has an lcd on it.

If you decide to replace the rear view mirrow.....keep on mind mind, that the OEM mirror has an auto dimming feature. The "broadway" snaps on to your mirror, you'd lose your auto dimming.

There are only three mirror replacements I recall reading about on CL or have seen in perspn.

1) Put a mirror with a compass built into it from a GS430 into a pre 01 GS.
2) Put a custom mirror with a built in valentine one display in
3) Put a custom mirror with a small video screen built in

The mirror in the GS is already auto dimming.

1. is OEM so what rominl said is on point.
Both 2 and 3 are custom for our car. If you don't need OEM, then a member is selling 3 in the classifieds:

Here is a sample pic of a custom 2 (not lexus mirror):

And here is one that is 2 and 3:

You can try contacting these people:

http://www.teknicar.com
http://www.streeteffectz.com

Teknicar did the two top V1 only mirrors and StreetEffectZ did the video/V1 install. The third V1 pic is of a Porsche mirror froma Porsche specialty site. They wanted $900. I have seen some BMW ones for around $200 so prices definitely may vary. I don't know of a premade Lexus one so you will have to get it custom made. You can either talk to a local installer about doing it or talk to the two sites I listed to see how much they will charge. I think they are in NY.

I have no affiliations or have done no business with the two sites. I listed them for info purposes only and am not vouching for them in anyway. Good luck.

Wait, the whole detector or just the remote display?

TLW, I think the question was is just the display in the mirror or was the whole V1 dismantled and mounted in it (I don't see the detector 'eye' in your picture). Do you have the Valentine one mounted elsewhere on your car on the windshield or broken apart and put on the back deck / grill, etc?

The remote display (which is what I think is built into your mirror) still requires that the Valentine be sitting out on the window to pick up the signal. Of course for $2500 the thing was probably relocated somewhere.

Did you get this done yourself or did the previous owner of the car have it done? If you did, do you mind sharing where?
