its not like one of those lexus or pontiac dealers. its a private dealers that i found here in newark newjersey. i dont really think that they have got this car inspected. if i all turns out fine i will be paying $14,500 cash for it plus sales tax. i cant wait to get it home and give it a nice wash and a new coat of paint and they bring it into the nice warm garage.

You should ask the dealer (or individual) you are buying it from to allow you to take it to an independent mechanic for an inspection. If they don't want you to do it, walk away.

When I purchased my GS, I took it to the Lexus dealership to have them look it over. Cost: approximately $100.
They check all the major components and lifted it to check the frame. They also check for body damage. The mechanic & I also took a test drive.
I had a mechanic that also owns a GS4. This way if something doesn't "feel" right, he'll definitely notice it. After the lexus inspection, I gave the owner my check and took the car home.

I did about the same thing on my GS400 purchase last year.
Got the VIN and had a Lexus dealer pull up all records.
Then, the selling dealer (not a Lexus or Toyota dealer) agreed to take it to the Lexus dealer for one of those 100 point inspections. Cost was about $120 or something but the 6 page detailed report is what allowed me to buy the car.......sight unseen. (I was 2000 miles away)
