Default Have you taken off your outside mirrors?

I tried taking off my exterior mirrors yesterday and succeeded in stripping one of the screws!

Any suggestions on what next to do to get that stripped screw out and the others which are extremely tight? Please keep in mind that you are talking to a non DIY type of person.

I see only three screws. Are those all that is required to get the mirror off? What about the wiring for the motors in the mirror housing - any tip for me regarding that? I basically need to get the mirror off (the whole unit) completely.

Thanks!

Lemme check my pdf files for anything.

Eazy OUT?

Regarding removal and installation you most likely need the book that the body shop uses? Maybe?

Post Stipped mirror screws

Hameed,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. There are also left hand drive drill bits that work very well for this. You can get it from your local Snap-on, MAC, or Matco tool distributors. Basically these drill bits spin counter clockwise, and when they bite into the broken fastener it usually spins them right out. Make sure you drill it as dead center as possible. Hit the center of the broken screw with a center punch so the drill bit doesn't "walk" on you. Good luck dude.

I had to basically do both steps to install the Tom's covers. The PDF would have been nice but I had RMMGS4 standing by to ask questions (He was working on his car) so it was not too bad.

i used to use this one tool, forgot what it's called tho. It's a phillips head on one side and the handle is "spring loaded" i guess you can call it. ANyways, strike the spring loaded side with a mallet and the phillips turns counter clockwise to get your screw loose. This method is used for projects like you're doing.
