Default Big rims, big risk?

Found an interesting article that talks about the issues you might have when going to bigger rims.

Article talks about unsprung weight, suspension, cheap rim knock-offs, etc.
I think most of us run a pretty "safe" setup cause we upgraded our suspension when going to bigger rims.
