Hey guys,
I ran into a little problem this weekend. I was just messing around this weekend and inserted my gf's Nav Disc (02 ES300) into my car and it started updating. Now, when I stick my disc back in, it says disk read error and will not display anything. So, my question is, is there a way to reset the Nav unit? Thanks in adance.

I THINK (from what i have read) that the new software also updates the actual software on the GS, and because of that, the old 01 will no longer work on it. From what i know, there is no way to reset it. sorry.

The problem with burning a copy of her disc is that when I did insert her disc, none of my POI's, destination, address, etc, functions worked (it would not let me push those buttons). The only this that was functioning was the actual map and that's it. I purchased an updated version of Nav disc (Ver 3.1 2004) and according to the guy I bought it from, this will work with the GS. Hopefully this solves my problem but if not, what do you guys think I should do? Thanks again.

Well, the disc is suppose to arrive on Wed. So I will let you guys know then. I heard that the only difference between our ver.1 disc and the ver 3.1 disc are the POI's and new streets. Supposedly everything else looks the same.

As stated earlier, your old DVD is garbage. Both updates I have gotten since getting my car back in 2001 state that once you upgrade from version DATA 2000 ver.1 you cannot go back. The disc you have coming should work fine. You need DATA ver.02.1 and higher now, any of those will work in your NAV DVD drive in the trunk. Let this be a warning to those that have DATA 2000 ver.1, don't upgrade unless you plan on keeping that disc in or else you will run into the problem gs430ondubz has.

I got my latest one for I think $240 or so from a promotion lexus-parts.com was having last month. Offer was in the vender forum. Otherwise I think the upgrade is $260 for the DVD.

Well, before any of you guys go and stick it any Lexus navigation DVD (ie. ES300, LS430, etc..) make sure it is compatible. My experience with putting my girlfriend's 2002 ES300 DVD did not go as planned, as I mentioned before. It updated everything and when it finished, the only thing that worked was the map. I would hit the menu button and nothing happened. I would hit the POI button and it wouldn't allow me to. So, I'm figuring that there are specific DVD's that go in our cars. Hopefully, the one I ordered will work. If it does, I will provide you guys with the part number so that you guys don't go through what I went through.

gs430ondubz: have you gotten your new disc yet? if so, give us the scoop if it worked.
also does anyone know for sure if any dvd's are swappable between diff lexus models. (i actually posed this question on a diff thread but got no replies) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=143983
