Since there arent many pictures regarding this i might as well show you the drama you are about to unleash. I cant believe Lexus used Rivets! my 1950 Ford uses rivets. If i had the money i would probably buy another black boot lid. But, i don't so. Here's what you are looking at -

Pry this little cover off, its only 2 small velcro pieces like stated earlier in the thread.

Unscrew these two Bolts

now...

Close your Trunk and pull straight up on the Spoiler to pop the remaining Metal U clips out
( spoiler will come off at this point but the wire for the LED light will run through the drivers side hole of the spoiler)

Been almost two months and I still haven't had time to take out the rivets...

At least it's a clean installation from the factory. Mine was installed at the dealership, many moons ago for the previous owner.

wanted to do this but local shop wanted 500 dollars to remove the spoiler, weld the holes shut, and color match the two panels along with painting the trunk

really the only part that has me a lil frustrated is the square hole the bend clip goes into because it protrudes a little. tapping it down instead of being up (if that works) would get everything flush to repair and blend and wetsand/paint/buff to match. not sure, depends how much a (junkyard) onyx black boot lid costs to weigh out pain vs. price. but i have never seen a company do rivets on a spoiler or such a heavy duty oem install. usually its two bolts/holes each side. and i think that bend from the clip is due to people lifting and closing the trunk by the spoiler for so many years

If it's a quality shop, that's pretty reasonable (but hard to justify to just remove a spoiler)

so did you weld up the holes once completed or did you just cover them and sealed or something? I'm going to do the same 3pc spoiler eventually.

Great tutorial! I love your posts, very detailed and fun to see the progress.

I just picked up a 99 GS400 and it has the OEM Wing. it seems like the wing doesnt sit quite flush, anybody seen this, or is this the way it sits?
