Mobil 1 5w30 all the way There is a website about the Soarer in Australia that compared the various synthetic oils and Mobil and Amsol came up on top. They did oil analysis on all the oils along with dyno runs. Mobil 1 is a superior product compared to other synthetics. The good thing about Mobil is that it's available at almost any autoparts store.

Also, synthetics get dirty just like any other oil, so extended oil change intervals are not recommended. Some people extend the oil change interval by putting in a new filter at 3,000 miles, but like I said, I only want the best for my Lex.

Regarding the oil leaking after switching, this is pretty uncommon problem now since synthetics come with an additive that keeps the seals swelled so there are no more leaks. Switching used to cause leaks because dyno oil forms deposits on the seals to prevent leaks and then going to synthetics cleans up these deposits thereby causing leaks. But like I said, this is not much of a problem because synthetics will clean up the deposits but they have additives that swell up the seals so there are no leaks. I switched to synthetics at 68,000 miles and have had no leaks. This is also true with my previous car (1st gen GS) and I had no leaks either.

I know amsol oil but do not know much about it except it's big with more serious racers.

But Mobil 1 is the only true synthetic oil. Castrol syntech and others commons are not fully synthetic.
