Need some help, I'm looking to purchase either Lowenhart LD1 or BR5 in 18x8.5 fronts 18x10 rear can't decide.
I would love 19" but here in NYC they wouldnt last to long. Would greatly appreciate any pics with either of these wheels. I know both these wheels are very popular on this site.
Thanks in advance, John

hey
go to the gallery, i think 2nd or 3rd page, you will see a gold GS with nice lowerhart rims.... i don't think it's chromed, but.. still nice anywayz. or you can go to www.hartwheels.co.jp they have some pics for that too. lowenhart is an excellent choice, sporty yet luxurious. way to go!!

The road condition in NY is terrible and I'd recommend you to have 18" instead of 19". Remember there is an old post who had 20" chrome Lowenhart LD1 and somehow had an accident (I don't remember) and it cost him a fortune for the rims and tires. He's also from the east coast, perhaps NY....

I just got my new 19 inch rims last friday. I decided to go to brooklyn on sunday. Well guess what I hit a pot hole and bent my rim. Now I am waiting to get it replaced =(.

Silver LD1 is NOT shiny at all. but i like its new finish called DIAMOND CUT(as we call polished look in the US). they looked brilliant, same price as the silver. this finish was new last year in japan.

Are you saying you can get LD-1's in the US with "polished" finish as opposed to silver or chrome? Is the polished the equivalent to the diamond cut finish available overseas? How does the polished compare to the silver and chrome finishes???
Thanks,
Bobcat

Bobcat----You have a White GS--(race color)!!! The best wheel, in my opinion for your car, would be a chrome wheel. Chrome goes very well with white. And if you are going for a race look, go with a mesh wheel--for example, HRE or the Enkei Aegis. Both come in 19's, chrome or silver with a chrome lip. I personally think that you should go chrome.
Just my .02 cents.

the LD1s
Bobcat,
LD1 now has 3 diff finish on the face:
Silver
Polish(aka Diamond Cut in japan)
Chrome
in japan, there are sooo many diff finish on rims, and each co give them diff names. when diamond cut first arrives here, some people do not even know what they are, so the wheel guys have to tell them "polished"
i usually ONLY like silver finish, but with soo many diff finish now available, diamond cut is also one of my fav. have you seen the ORIGINAL 16" wheels on the LS400(98-2000)? it is similar to that degree-subtle and elegant. if it were me, i woould go Diamond Cut finish on the wheel face with a polished LIP on the LD1.

Here's a picture of my wheel with a Machine Polish/Diamond finish. It's sort of shiny, but not in the gaudy chrome bling-bling way...
(I can't wait to get my AP racing brakes...unfortunately, I won't have them installed until Tuesday, after the meet...oh well..)

Thanks for all the feedback, gents. I like the polished look Manaray .... not too flashy but nice.
I called autoaddictions in PA and they sell 18"x8.5 LD-1's for $665 each. Does that seem like a good price?
