Unhappy Ride Quality Blows......(now that I've gone to 19" wheels)

After placing the 19's on the ride couple months ago I had the car aligned about 2 weeks ago and my 'toe' was not correctly aligned.

Before the alignment the ride quality blew with the car pulling to the right or left (like it had its own mind). Now that I had the alignment the ride quality is better but still not perfect and very bumby on the highway.

Whats up? Should I lower the girl? New tires (mine are very worn out with something like 25% thread left)

Any suggestions would help greatly. Thanks

UPDATE: I currently have 245 40 19 tires

Part of the problem is that your tires are wider now. They tend to follow the curves in the road. I noticed that back in 2000 with my first set of 20".

did u buy the tires new or used, 75% wear in a couple of months is a little extreme...........have they been roadforce balanced?

No I bought the rims WITH the tires from a guy from ClubLexus. They had that much when I bought them.

well 25% tread left is aweful. if you really don't like the ride mayb go with a fatter tire set up like 245/40/19, that will give u a much nicer ride with 19's. it will make your wheels look smaller tho but the ride will be better.

Try a different tire next time. I had similar problem with my Bridgestone S03. Changed to Michelin PilotSport PS2 and ride quality, handling and noise level greatly improved. I also had the car pulling problem (tramlining) with the SO3. No more with the PS2.

Thanks for the info. Tires.com has them for $300 each = $1200

Has anyone driven on BFG KDW2? Brandon@TR mentioned they sell them for $988 + shipping

the ride quality issue you are having is mostly from worn tires.. with low profile high perf (zyand w rated) the more worn te tire down to the wear bars the hard the rubber becomes.. when new the softer compound is at tht start of the tread blocks life so it will absorb more impacts .. for this reason normally with a new set of tires you get a awful lot of tread squirm until they get scrubbed..

buy some new tires , make sure you are running at least 38-40lbs of air in front and 36-38 in the rear and your ride quality will get better as well as your tires themselves will wear better and more even (the extra air keeps the sidewalls from rolling under and kinda compensates for some of the neg camber)

its obvious why the ride blows......look at the size rim you are running.... you went either 3 steps up (16") or 2 steps up (17") from stock....of course the ride will degrade...

my 17's road sucky to me....I swapped down to 16's and am VERY happy....

some of us (like me) are more sensitive to road feel than others and some of us need extra cushion for our old bones (and I'm 27 and saying this )

Your car appears to be a 98-99 model. I do not know if you have replaced or upgraded your factory struts, but when you add plus sized wheels/tires it tends to expose any deteriorating factory suspension parts (bushings, etc)

You have a pretty good sized tire (40 series 19), your ride should not be that bad. As others have mentioned, replace your tires with new ones, then look into suspension.

25% tread will make your ride horrible. Did u get the tires balanced? I see you got an alignment. Getting them balanced will help with any weights that must be added or they will tell u if your wheel(s) are bent.

The car will not ride perfect, vibrations and minor issues are part of going with larger size wheels/low profile tires.
