I also don't know why the hell lexus put the adaptive crap on sport mode. The only thing that bothers me a lot is that my car takes forever to downshift, and it revs to 6K only, which I don't mind.
My question is this: for how long does the computer "learn ", or is that a constantly learning process? If it's the latter, I don't see the point on resetting the ECM and ******* the car like crazy, since after a few freeway runs, it would revert to the "pops" program anyway.
Does anybody know the "learning" specifics?

Thanks!

there are A LOT of REALLY SMART electronic guys on the forum, i'm sure if we all put our heads together we could come up with a way to crack adaptive driving!?! right? we did the TV/NAV thing, so why not this? it must be a simple hack that tells the ECU to keep it at max responsiveness at all times, the car CAN do it, the computer is just NOT LETTING it happen. Anyone know how to do this? if so please try, for all of us!!

i know i would make a donation if it would help, because i just reset my ECU and i definatly noticed a difference on how the car would jump (in a good way), and i wasn't even driving!!

Hello All,

I work for Lexus in Sales here in Houston. We had a trainer from Lexus corporate come talk about the 07 ES and the Gs450h. During that time, he mentioned the adaptive learning. He said that it take 10 starts and stops for the learning cycle to "complete."

So....for what it's worth, I guess the car learns with the first ten(10) starts and should behave like so thereafter.

Hope this helps a bit.

interesting. does this adaptive learning only apply to starting from 0 or does it work with accelerating from trying to pass someone up?

When you reset your ECU, all it does is it erases the adaptive memory of the fuel trim from previously learned. You don't gain anything from this.

I've heard of people converting the aem meth injection kits to eliminate the bulb changing by injecting blinker fluid to save money in the long run as it helps prolong the bulb life considerably. Not sure how if affects ecu reset intervals though.

GohanburneR cast "REVIVE" on thread.

I'm going to assume that I just did this for the first time in the life of the car. 12 years and 117K miles. Just pulled it a few minutes ago. I'll update with the results a little later.

Thottle response seems to be a little better. Still hard shifting from 2nd -> 3rd. Bummer.

Mine's still a yellow 20 amp fuse just inside of the 40 amp main fuse & without it installed, the car won't crank at all. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

I also have 5 Amp fuse, not 20 Amp. fuse. I wonder if after cleaning the MAF sensor. Should I reset the ECU? Thanks.
