Hey guys,
I am still in the market for a GS430. The guy buying my Tahoe did not get approved for his loan, damn deadbeat. But hey I got to keep the 2k deposit he put on it!!! I am hoping to get rid of my Tahoe soon, really soon, it is the only reason I do not have a lex yet. I wanted to see if anybody knows what I would need to do to bring a GS430 from another state (AZ or NV) to Cali. Is there anthing special I need to do? I am wondering because I have found some cheaper there off the bat without the haggling... So off the bat close to 4500 cheaper without even asking about the price. Anybody have any input for me? Or done it before?

I bought my GS 430 from another state. It was a 6 hours drive to get the car. The dealer was very halpful, and since he had other locations I was able to drive one of his cars down to pick up mine. You need to run a carfax, maybe get someone localy to check out the car. I bought mine a lot cheaper than from my area. I would recommend it. I was working with many detailed pics as well, so I knew the condition of the car before I got there. Hope this helps.

I bought mine from the DC area without even seeing the car first. I had the owner send me a ton of photos and got a pre-sale inspection done at the dealer (cost around $150). I was going to have it shipped (would have run around $600), but instead flew my parents up there and they drove it back-a big plus cause my dad was able to look it over also.
The interior had a couple of scuffs I hadn't counted on but overall I got a good deal: 2000 GS400, blue, 42K, for $23,600 in March of '04.
If you want to have it shipped, Auto-Go is really good. I've shipped around 50 or so cars with them, they can be reached at 877-668-3735

I found my GS4 four hundred miles away from my home. I ran a carfax before I contacted the dealer to get more details about this car. I arrived at the dealership around noon on a sunny day to inspect the vehicle. I won't buy a vehicle without inspect it personally.

I bought my 99GS4 from a Phoenix-Scottsdale dealership. They drove with me from Phoenix to Blythe, (which was the city just inside the California border. Once there, the dealers' representative notarized the papers stating that the car would not be registered in Arizona anymore. I used the Arizona 30 day plates to operate until they expired or I got registered in California.
I went to a smog center in California the next day, and had it smogged. They checked that the sticker under the hood that MUST say that the car is certified to work in the state of California. It had that, so everything was fine.
Then I went to DMV, and had the car VERIFIED. They verified that the VIN numbers matched the bill of sale, plus they checked the smog certificate. as well as applying for a California title. The selling state must surrender their title to California so California can issue a new one. This will be true whether you pay cash or finance the car. Don't forget about the sales tax, which is the difference between the tax paid in the selling state, and the tax oine would have to normally payy here in California. In my case, it was about $1200.00. I had to pay that before I could get my plates and stickers. My credit union handled all of the paperwork, and it took about 25 days.
It is possible, and can be done. Have patience and it will go smoothly.
Good luck

Wow, Cali has some pretty strict registration rules. Here in NY all you have to do is bring the title, make sure the previous owner has signed it, fill out 2 forms, and you get a registration sticker and plates right there. The new title will be mailed out in 2 months. Then you get a sticker allowing you 10 days to get an inspection. For the most part, registration is easy, its getting affordable insurance in Bklyn thats really hard.

I purchased my GS430 from Pa, I live in maryland. Check with the dealer and see if they deal in the paperwork of your state. The dealer I went too was able to obtain my tags and registration without me going to the DMV. We even negotiated and did the loan over the phone. The quickest and most pain free vehicle purchase I ever had. When I got to the dealer it took 30 min to sign over my Acura TLS and drive off with the 430. Less than 30 days got my registration in the mail. So that's something you may want to ask the dealer. Good luck on your purchase.
