Speedstu, how wide are your wheels? Would 20"X9" fit a GS400? Do you know about how heavy the 20" Low's chrome would be? Thanks.

400DGRZ - you can do a 20x8.5 all around or a staggered setup of 20x8.5 in front and 20x9.5 in the back. Also, some people do 20x9" all around and 20x9 front, 20x10 rear but usually, you have to do some fender work and/or fender lining modifcation.

As for weight, 20" Chrome LD1's weigh a TON. Even not chromed, they're pretty heavy as they're cast rims..

Speedstu - Your ride looks nice! The Blitz kit looks good in black (doesn't look so Ricey-Racer compared to light colors like white/silver/etc.)...the only thing that *I* think detracts from the overall looks is the spoiler...I think a lip spoiler, factory spoiler, or no spoiler would look better, but hey, to each his own...

SpeedStu,

Very sweet ride.. Personally I would of gone total chrome on the LD1's but thats me.. I figure a bling bling car deserves bling bling wheels (especially on a black car).. Not that the Silver/Polish lip ones look bad.. As for the Blitz kit its my favorite on the GS especially how you did your exhaust.. Kudos on that!!
I was wondering how comfortable is the ride with the 20's and the Tein suspension.. Did you look at the H&R coil over setup??

Manaray,

I agree the Blitz wing looks a bit boy racerish but it fits well with that kit.. Good thing its a black car as you said.. Blends alot better..

Thanks all for the pictures and help I ordered the 18" Chrome LD1's for my SC 430 on Saturday.. When I get the car in September I will post pictures with the wheels.. BTW I was able to get the run-flat sensors along with those wheels.. 3 more months to enjoy my 2000 GS.. I'm gonna miss her..

For the performance minded, something to think about...

The 20x9 LD1s weigh 38.5 lbs each. 38.5 x 4 = 154 lbs of static mass. Since that mass must be accelerated in both linear and rotational ways, that weight would equal about 3 x 154 lbs = 462 lbs

Nevertheless, those rims are very nice !!

38.5 lbs is the nominal weight (no finish specification). I would say that a coat of chrome would add no more than 3 pounds to each wheel.

I don't have the specs of the BS5. But I'm certain the manufacturing processes are the same (vacumm cast), so weight shouldn't differ very much. The BS5 model has more slender spokes than the LD1, so it might be a little lighter.

My ride with the 20X9 and 20X10 in the rear is fine. The tein suspension offers comfort and handling. Not too worried about the weight of the wheel and tire. Since the GS4 is my "comfort car". If I want to go fast, I will just hop into my soon to be turbo miata. Then I will have best of both worlds.

SpeedStu

Thanks you all for the compliments.

I'm riding on 20x9 in the front and 20x10 in the back with a 245/35 and 275/30 in the back, the tein suspension does a nice job in the corners while maintaining a comfort zone. This car was never meant to corner like a race car so I do not mind the weight of LD1s. As long as it looks nice to cruise. I am building a turbo miata and it will be my race car.

Thanks for all the compliments!

Actually, 20 inch tires, 245 width, weigh about 30 lbs each
