Default I got 420 miles on a tank of gas!

Not bad for a big car with a 300 hp V8. It was mostly highway driving, but some of it was between 85- 100 mph, so it could have been even better.

How does that compare with what you guys are getting? There's lots of talk about miles per galon, but I wonder what the most amount of miles a GS400 has gone on one tank of gas? Technically it is obviously the same thing, but it's kind of fun to look at it from that angle...

Never waited until it is almost empty but the best highway MPG for my GS4 is about 24.8 MPG.

Wow. You guys set the bar pretty high.

Do you do anything special to stretch the mileage out?

I refill about every 325 - 350 miles which gets me about 20mpg (mix of short and long trips).

Any suggestions?

Max Miles and gallons of tank on GS430

Take a look at this thread. I do not know if it is a record, but I went 458.3 miles on a tank. I will never do it again!

in short, from what i experienced, doing local driving is what really kills the gas mileage, gas drops really fast. if you are on the freeway doing avg speed, that's where you save gas. just make sure you dont' vary the rpm much and that's the key

Default Ive Done 425 Highway Miles Myself

I drive monthly from San Diego to Vallejo California ( 510 miles each way), and I have found that:

1. Gas mileage varies with quality of fuel. Cheap gas burns faster. Even PREMIUM fuel can be junk at times..
2. I always get better gas mileage when the weather is warm. 70 degrees or hotter.
3. A steady even speed of 70 to 80 mph max usually gets me the BEST mileage
4. Good clean oil and fresh filters also help.
5 Running AC doesn't seem to make much difference on the highway with windows closed

I recently decarbonized my complete intake system with BG cleaner, and I did not know that there was so much dirt in the intake and valves. The tailpipe is actually clean, instead of black and sooty like most GS's.

My first GS ran rings around this one until this weekend. NOW it feels like a GS is supposed to.

I started using OUTLAW Octane Booster recently, and the clean intake and injectors, combined with octane booster REALLY makes the car come alive, whether the tank is empty or full.

Can't wait to put it on the road this weekend to see how she does

That's some great advice. Hey, do you mind posting some details on how you cleaned the intake and valves? I'd like to do this to mine.

I'm a fool, I just had to try. 430 miles, I pumped 18.7 gallons. All but ~60 miles of the 430 miles was highway miles @ 70-75mph, the other 60 miles was city.

I was freaking the last 10 miles
