Default GS300 gas milage

Hey I am new to the board, I did do a search first before posting and didnt really find exactly what I was looking for so here it goes:

I am going to be working for a realestate agency in the next few months and am thinking about purchasing a 99 GS300 to serve as a work/daily driver. What type of gas milage are you guys getting from your GS300s?? I have read that they dont do much better than the 400s but I am only 24 and overall price is a factor.

yup the gs3 has the same gas mileage as the gs4, it eats gas. maybe around 20mpg in general mix driving?

oh and welcome to clublexus

Default Go for it!!

First of all, if you're worried about saving money then this is the wrong place
to be. You'll get terrible mileage after you slap on all the mods!! j/k

Yep, i agree with Rom. i've been keeping my mileage since i drove my 2k GS3
off the showroom floor. (okay, so i'm a bit of a nerd)
i'm averaging 21.34 miles. i drive mostly highway back and forth to work and i
take the car on weekends around town. don't do too much spirited driving.
(yeah, right)

you should do decently well if you want conserve fuel (though the hand may tend to
"accidently" hit that power switch a bit often).
good luck, and, yeah, welcome to CL.

yup i agree with darbs. as long as you don't punch the car hard, the gas mileage is acceptable imho. it's on the high side (consumption) for i6, but on the low side for the v8. but in general i think it's good. if you punch it though, from what i see, the gas goes a lot faster than i expected!

for realz? damn....I would figure the gs3 to have better gas mileage....as I would suspect the v8 to eat up way more gas....

hahaa you didnt' read up when you bought the car man. the supra i6 eats gas big time for the power. i think the gas mileage is like 18/24, and the gs4 is like 18/23

so there is really no reason to get gs3

I got my GS for style not speed. I like to cruise and let the twinkies shine, but I'll probably get the 400 in the future. Not that big a deal to me unless you like to speed everywhere.

I had a GS3 and a GS4... I didnt switch to the GS4 for speed. The V8 is so much more smooth and feels so much better.

Drive a 4 and you will totaly understand.

Well thanks alot for the help guys this seems to be a great board. I have been into fast cars for a long time( I have owned 6 Modded RX-7s) and really wanted the GS4 for the extra power but figured it would eat gas like crazy. As long as it can mannage over 20 I think that would be fine with me since im getting around 18 in my Toyota 4X4. I was looking to spend 14K - 16K on a car but I think I may get a small loan to cover the extra cost of a GS4. I am mostly concerned about the gas milage on long trips since I drive from seattle to Lewiston Idaho quite a bit to visit my g/f while at school and really dont want to be getting like 15 MPG hwy lol

well if you are really concerned about getting 30mpg, then the gs shouldn't even be on your list. like we have discussed the gs4 eats gas the same way as the gs3. so if you have the cash, get the gs4

and since you want about 20mpg, imho the gs4 is capable of that no problem

My best highway MPG is about 24.8MPG. It is hard to drive for maximum MPG when there is 300HP V8 under the hood

I usually avg 17 with my GS (city/hwy/ in rush hour) but I'm a bit heavy on the gas. I think 20 is very possible with more hwy driving and less stop and go rush hour stuff When I had my gs300, I got 18 on avg under the same driving conditions.

ECKO, if you're going to buy the GS4 and are that concerned about mileage then
i suggest you just stick to cruise control on the long trips and you'll get better than
you thought you could. even when i punch it a couple of times on a long trip my
mileage is head over heals better than normal weekly driving.
good luck.
