Man that is way too much ! I wish I could have had a chance to talk to you before, oh well.

It wouldn't have been too much if it was a 98 GS400.

Is it lexus certified and does it have the 100,000 mile extended warranty on it?

What options does it have on it? Any other upgrades?

I think that a trip down south, especially Houston/Dallas would be well worth it if you are going to save anywhere close to $5,000 ! A car like that should cost you no more than around 25k, unless its loaded with factory 17" chromes, nakamichi, spoiler, navigation, and cell phone, then 27k is fine too, and I would add 2k if you have the 100,000 mile warranty on it

Well, I paid $33K for my 98 GS400 loaded with spoiler, HID, Navigation and 17"s. It had 53K miles. I also bought this nearly 9 months ago, so I am please with the deal. Mine only had the remainder of the Factory warranty, so purchased an extended one to take me to 98000 miles for $1500 I think. For NJ, it was a very decent deal. Plus, I really ripped them off with my trade in, so I am pleased.

yeah, for 9 months ago, your deal was good animala, did that include taxes and everything?

and what did you trade, what kind of deal on that? I wanna know how dealers are in your area. Sometimes it seems to me that the auto dealership business is worth getting into, IF you supply luxury autos

Hey nano,

I too wouldn't mind getting into autos. It's in the family. I actually think dealer transport could be lucrative. I wouldn't moving PT Cruisers or the popular car of the day, even Lexus from low demand to high demand areas. I already know of a few places I could pick these cars up, move them elsewhere, and make some $$$$. Years ago, my father moved new Corvettes from South Carolina to California and made some major bucks. Bought them at auction and then, he, my mother, and a friend would drive a few out to CA and sell them to DEALERS at sticker or above.

Nano, the price I listed was before taxes. I never count taxes in because they are inevitable.

I traded in a '94 Cadillac SLS with 75K miles. They gave me $9K for trade in. While that is not that great, it was not in the best condition (looked decent though) but only the driver's side power window worked, and it was leaking oil like a mother! The northstar has a well know problem (now known by me, a little too late) called the main engine seal. The part only costs $5, but they have to drop the exhaust and transmission to get to it. Labor was going to be around $3,000, not included $300 x 3 for the windows to get fixed. The dealer didn't notice, I didn't offer the info, and I got a sweet deal on a car I would never had been able to sell.

Before anyone crucifies me, the dealer told me they don't sell domestics and they were just going to auction it off (which they did) and they only ask if it was in any accidents and if the odometer is accurate. I was truthful on both counts.

Like prob everyone else here, if a "superGS" comes out, my name will be on that damn list. Of course, if it is only 5k cheaper than an E55 or an M5, im gonna have to defect. Now looking at KBB.com, it says my 98 GS4 , with 33k miles on it, would resale for 39k in North Jersey. Now that seems very unrealistic. Anyone see how much a GS4 with the same mileage has gone for?

What's happening is that a lot of cars are suddenly coming off lease, creating a big supply of 98 GSs. A year ago, the leases on the original 98 GSs had not yet expired, so the cost of a used GS was high. Prices have come down in Atlanta since I bought my 98 GS3 about 2 months ago for $29,500. (A nice one with 31,000 miles). I'm still happy with my purchase, and prices are likely to stabilize now that lots more used GSs are on the market.

I am currently negotiating in Maryland for a 1998 GS 400 with Nav and all the other options for $31,000 with 43,000 miles. They wanted $35,000, and the car was just brought in off a lease and not certified yet. We told them $31,000, certify it, and we'll take it. After several counter offers by them, we stood firm, and they agreed to our terms. It only took three phone calls, and in fact, we were surprised they caved in so fast.

I have been looking for a 98-99 GS400 with Nav for several months. Yes, a lot of them are coming off leases, but ones with Nav are much harder to find. For whatever reason (I assume the great capitalistic theory of competition), I have found that prices are lower near big cities with numerous dealerships. Washington DC has good deals, but only in Maryland for some strange reason. I have found good deals in Mass, New York, and Miami, but not in states like North or South Carolina, Kentucky, or Tennessee.

Will have one soon, however, and I can't wait!

Default What the....I'm in the MD area too!

Wei,

Check your PM. I just sent you something about that pricing. The dealers around here are asking for some crazy money for a car.

They all go for an average of 33-34K and some are even more ridiculous! Down with dealers! Ha ha.

Default dealer auction

I've recently been to a dealer auction, and I've seen GS's in the low 20's and even in the high teen's. Mileage around 50-90k.

Infinity, forget about it, VERY LOW. I saw 98's Q45 going for like $15k.

Default no spectra blue in 2001

Dieselman,

They dropped the spectra blue color for the GS and replaced it with that new, darker blue color (similar to that found on the new LS).

Just FYI...

you gotta be kidding...u mean to tell me that even though my car is in beautiful condition and with 32k miles on it, i would prob get 30k for it right now? Thats ridiculous. thats 20k in depreciation in yrs, which i suppose might be similar to the benzes. Anyone know in comparison?
