Default Safe To Drill Holes For License Plate??

I don't have holes for the bottom of my license plate frame and after adding Dynmat to it, the bottom sticks out about 2 inches and it looks STUPID! I want to drill holes for the bottom screws but I need to know if its safe.

Anything behind that metal panel less than 1 inch deep?

Thanks!

when i took out the trunk lining for the chrome trunk bar i don't recall seeing anything, but i didn't pay 100% attention though

you have to put mat there? can't just use some weather striping?

Thanks Henry!!

I put Dynamat on the inside of the trunk lid but that was last year. I Dynamat'd the license plate so it wouldn't vibrate on heavy bass. Now it sticks out so far it looks silly. I'll take a photo and post it. Yeah, I gues I could have used weather stripping but I have about 2sq ft of mat left

Why don't u just add even MORE of that mat so it sticks out EVEN MORE. Then, BAM... u'll have VIP STYLE tilt on ur plate.

Since the dynamat will take care of the rattling, you dont really need to the bottom of the plate to the trunk. What I've done on other cars on occasion is use the bolt and nut just to attache the frame to the plate. Cut off the back of the screw so its flush with the nut, and put a felt pad or something over the nut and screw so it doesnt scratch the trunk lid. Or use nylon license plate screws, which wont scratch the paint.

Put some spacers at the top then it will at least be even top and bottom.
