Default Opinion needed -- 2000 GS4

There's no way this is worth it, but tell me what you think. 2000 GS400 platinum edition, 47k miles, certified, Nak, HIDs, asking price $25,900. The dealer came down to $24,000 and offered me $14,000 for my car (which is a 98 GS400 with 70,000 miles, no Nak or HIDs, but it has 17s). So, basically, it would cost me $10,000 to buy a car with lower miles, 2 additional options, and a certified warranty to 100,000 miles. At that price, it seems like I would be better off shopping around for a nice 01+. By the way, here's a picture -- my car is on the left (got the 16s on for the winter):

If I'm not mistaken, the certified warranty goes to 100m miles or 3 years ---which ever comes first.
At 47M, if u drive 20m per year, then you would go to 100k. Otherwise, it wil be 3 years.

Right. I just assumed that I would put on about 20,000/year, so it would work out to be about the same.

And my car just turned 70,000 miles.

so why would you get the same car 2 years newer with a lil less than half the mileage for $10k more???

better off gettin an 01+ but at a prettier penny if you wanted to upgrade.

Honestly, I could understand if you had a 300, but being that you have a 400 here is my $.02:

1) If you want HIDs, get a damn kit for $400

2) If you wanted the Nak, get some good FoCal, Diamond, Arc Audio, Rainbow, Eclipse, etc... components and call it a day (they will BLOW Nak outta the water anyway)

Also, I must admit, maybe its the pic or lighting or whatever but your paint looks shinier...

I'd keep what I had, drop another $2k into it and you are at that 2k level

I basically agree. It doesn't seem worth it. The reason I've been considering this is because I've been kicking myself for the last several months for not holding out for a GS4 with more options (basically HID and/or Nakamichi).

As for the paint, both cars were equally dirty because it was raining out. I believe the main difference you're seeing is the difference between alpine silver (98-99) and millenium silver (00+).

Don't do it e. You can sell yours outright and buy a GS430 with similar miles for same price range.

Both very valid suggestions. As for (2), I've been down that road already and it didn't work out. Maybe they weren't the best speakers, but I installed Boston Acoustics 6.5 components in the front doors and it didn't sound much better than the stock set up. I've been told that unless you are going to change the head unit, you shouldn't even bother.

After the salesperson gave me the number, I said thank you and basically walked off the lot. The only reason I was considering it is because the car had HIDs and the Nakamichi, both of which I wish I had. The truth is that I'm not that interested in the platinum edition anyway. I don't care for the rims or the platinum badging on the sides. If I was serious about the car, I would have told him to keep the rims and knock off another $500.

for a cpo car, i think this is a pretty good deal in fact. me myself won't consider it coz' both the nav and the nak are not what i want (i want dvd nav, and i want ML instead). but price wise it's good

if you look for a 01 cpo gs430 with the same options, you are looking at a much much steeper price tag

E-man this car has been for sale for months if it's the one at Bredemann Lexus, from the pics it appears to be nearly flawless but overpriced imo, they just lowered it from 26,500, for what you have now it's not worth 10K, you should look for an 01 430 with ML/Nav, they can be had for similar dollars and in some cases cheaper than this car, if you decide to keep your car speakers alone will not help, you need an upgraded sub and a good set of aftermarket amps, one for the sub and one for the mids/highs, your head unit will do unless you want to go for mobile video. Hope this helps.

That's what I did. I sold my 1999 Aristo bone stock with 32,000 km to my cousin and bought a 2000 Aristo with light add-on stuff (radiator hose, avc-r, etc) with 18,000 km for only $4k more....

I thought it was well worth it.
