Default help with steering wheel column noise

i did a search on this subject and nothing so i'm hoping someone here had this or has this problem.

i hear a clunk noise from my steering wheel column when back out (reversing) and over dips. it seem like it's loose or it could be coming from the rack and pinion?

from the cabin, i moved the steering column with my hand to see if it was loose and it did move slightly.

can this part be rebuilt? do i need to shoot grese into the joints? if so, how?

thanks

Default Did you ever get the steering wheel colum noise fixed?

Just wondering if you had your steering rack fixed. I am experiencing similar noises over bumps and I have already replaced the struts , mounts, ball joints. It seems like it's pointing to the rack.

Any advice would help..........

i have a problem with mutiply noise not sure what ur speakin of exactly

1) i have noise from the steerin wheel its self on HOT days when i jsut turn the wheel and it sounds like the wheel needs to be greased

2) clunk from outside right passanger side i checked all swaylinks tierods and everythings seems tight only possiblity i assume would be strut is shot? but the ride feels normal only when its over consistent bumps then i hear a clunk noise

3) sounds when i turn steering wheel (low and unoticeable unless u look for it) but it sounds like that joint from the steeerin wheel rack mabe a worn out rubber bushin like thing?
this cars killin mee -=) lolz

I think they could have done a better job of the steering column on the 2GS.... I have similar 'jiggles' when i go over bumps etc. the column doesn't vibrate that much, but you can hear alot of clank.

i wonder if it is a loose/worn bushing somewhere inside the column.
