Mercedes E55 AMG - 2nd
Lexus GS400 - 3rd

actually if you want to go into technicality its like the 4th

1. BMW M5 ( 0-60 in 4.7 )

2. MB E55 ( 0-60 in 5.0 )

3. Jauar XJR ( 0-60 in 5.4 )

4.lexus GS400/430 ( 0-60 in 5.8)

but the fastest sedan in the world right now is the Renntech Mercedes E7.4 with a 0-60 time of 3.8 and a top speed of 212MPH

the first 3 fastests sedans are actually mercedes and then comes BMW then Mercedes then Jaguar then Lexus

I am asking this because I remember when the GS first came out in 98, they were all saying about how it was the "fastest automatic sedan in the world*" *according to 0-60 times.

I think lexus's website actually says that the 99GS400 does 0 to 60 in 5.7sec, still not faster than the germans however.

What do you mean when you say sedan? like a 2-door sedan? Wouldn't that mean its a coupe?

And is the Jaguar XJR a 4 door?

Where can I learn more about the Renntech Mercedes E7.4?

And you said, "the first 3 fastests sedans are actually mercedes and then comes BMW then Mercedes then Jaguar then Lexus".

so can you fill this in order from fastest to slowest?

1. Renntech Mercedes E7.4???
2.
3.
4. BMW M5
5. Jaguar XJR
6. Lexus GS400

Lexus website says GS430 is like 5.8sec, which is weird. They say 98 GS4 was 5.8sec, 99 was 5.7sec, 00 was 5.7sec and 01 is 5.8sec again, why the differences? just because difference magazines tested in different years? plus the fine print indicated that the 00 model 0to60 figure is from Motor Trend Feb 98, meaning the figure from the 99GS was carried over to the 00 GS. I was also thinking that maybe since the GS430 has a 4.3 liter engine rather than a 4.0 liter, it would be a little faster, or atleast the same?

here is the list for you

1. Renntech Mercedes 7.4 V12 E class

2. Brabus Mercedes Supercharged E class

3. Lorenser Mercedes Supercharged E-class

4. BMW M5

5. Mercedes E55

6. Jaguar XJR ( the XKR is the 2 door version of the XJR )

7. Lexus GS400/430

8. BMW 540i six speed

9. Mercedes E430

the reaseon the GS400 and GS430 are the same speed is because of weight the 430 is a bit heavier than the 400 thus its slows the 430 down to the 400's speed, and it also uses a diffrent transmition thats why the 430's dont have the E-shift since the engine didnt like the setup and wouldnt work right thats why the took it off the 430 and put it in the 300 but the 430 is not used to its fullest potential yet since the release of the 430 came so early in the 400's life it would have been a wrong move on lexus's part to give it a major HP gain over the 400 since it was still selling when the 430 came. If they did give the 430 a big HP gain they would have had way too many 400's laying around there lots but I will tell you that the redesiegned 430 that is suposed to debut in 2004 will have at least 350hp to compete with the upcomming BMW 454, Lexus is also planing to intraduce a new version of the GS to compete with the M5

Thanks for the list and info about upcoming GS.

But do the Benzs actually count? I mean, none of the ones you listed, except the E7.4 seem to be stock? They are all upgraded and moded by one company or another.

In that case, Mo's GS would win everyone one of them, and he can call it the:

Lexus GS400 SRT

or the:

Muhammad Lexus Supercharged GS400

I think I read that his had 800hp and could do 0 to 60 in less than 4sec !

I think the M5 and XJR are fair to count in this list because they are fast from stock, not tuned ! And I guess maybe you could also count the E55 AMG since its tunning is done by MB itself.

2001 MB S500 0 to 60 in only 6.1sec??? That's pretty good for a car so big ! I like it !!! I guess it just got a few more points in my recommendation list to my dad on what kind of car to get next !

By the way, I would appreciate some feedback to my previous post on this thread about whether or not the upgraded MB's can be counted on the fastest 4-door list.

Thanks in advance !

Nanotech,

Brabus benzs counts as Stock because they are sold like a production benzes in Europe, through dealers and comes with warrenty just like normal cars. I think of them as a more aggressive AMG vehicle.

Man, talking about fast stock 4-doors look at the S600. with only 362Hp it does 0-60 in 5.6 sec. No force induction, no nothing just raw engine power V12. That is one mean slugger.

I don't think any car that is made in extremely small quantities like Renntech should count for one (or anything that's THAT expensive).

I also don't think two door cars should count as sedans. Comparing the M3 and an S500 is crazy. Might as well include a Porsche 911 Turbo... hardly a sedan, but it does have (worthless) back seats.

Also, one of the lists specifies an automatic M5 - ain't no such beast as far as I know.

Anyway, in the seriously fast sedans... I think the M5, E55, S4, GS430, S500, S600 are all reasonable to include.

The 540i by the way is basically the same performance as a GS430 and an M5 will smoke a GS430 every time.

There's probably others too (S8?), but I think we should stick to things more than zillionaires can buy and things that are not made by small shops in tiny quantities.

Talking

Actually...fast means TOP speed. Quick is time to speed or distance. All cars listed (except modified tuner cars) have either a 150mph or a 155mph speed limiter. My AWESOMELY FAST 1996 LS400 without a limiter is listed by Car&Driver at 156mph...sooooo...I guess my car is the FASTEST 4 door sedan in the world...

the benz's 0-60 is awesome. and i like how it does it..you floor it, and u kinda feel the power build up for a second and then it shoots it all out at once, and u feel it.

my very first car was a 1988 mercedes 560 sel. yeah it was ghetto..but that **** was fast...specially for a 1988. i have no clue what the specs are, but i think it would be about even with the 2001 gs300s. thats pretty good for a car thats 13 years old..and the click..the world famous benz click..u hear it/ feel it in the pedal when u floor it all the way down (its used as overdrive button too i believe). im not sure if the 2001s are like that too tho.

late
