They told me it was a malfunction in the vvti, it just started working again.
They couldn't find the source but have experienced it on other toyota cars with the vvti system.

Hey Richie-hope everything is ok, but I don't get it? why would using the brakes with motor off cause brake fluid to leak?

I don't really understand what they did to fix it "the vvti" was the problem?

I am also not sure but I think it has to do with this:
When the engine is running the brake system is powered, when the engine is not running it is not powered and you have to use a lot of force to use the brakes to stop the car. I think this causes too much pressure and can cause an overflow.

At least this is what I thing happened after hearing the guys at the garage talk.

They didn't do too much.
It just started working again.
When this happened it was really cold outside, maybe that had some influence.
