Try an exact-o knife. Just draw the line and just cut over the line over and over and over. Slowly but surely you should get a nice straight line and it should cut clean with no splinters. After sand it down to make it smooth.

I've never cut an engine cover, but I have cut plastic before. It takes a steady hand plus several passes of the blade to cut through. In addition, the plastic was flat so I was able to clamp a metal straight edge to allow for straight and true cut. I think the engine cover would be very diffcult to do with a razor knife. The part is not flat so clamping on a straight edge is out of the question. The best you could do is place tape along the cut line and do a free hand cut. If you hands are extremely steady (like that of a surgen), then great. Otherwise, its probably best to find someone with a good table saw to make a straight and true cut.

Do not cut the engine cover.

I'd either run no stb with engine cover vs. cutting the engine cover.

Of course....its best to find an stb that would fit over the cover....looks like Steve got something up his sleeve....just in time for Spring break and the Summer modding season.

Nice pic ... but according to his profile, his is a GS400, not a GS430.

yup like others said it's a 400 engine, a lot of stb sits over them. in fact it's the "lowest" engine comared to the 300, 400, and 430 with engine covers.

for the 430, cone is the only one i know of so car that will clear barely and rub a little.

Well.....that pic above show the stb over fitting over the 430 with engine cover. Do you think this will fit the GS300....esp the 2001+ models?

Can't tell but I wonder if EDFC will fit too. Main thing is that the hood closes....LOL!!!

If your refering to the pic in post 20, that is a 400 engine cover not a 430. I have a 430 and it does not look like that

if they design a whole new stb for the US market, it only makes sense for them to design something that fits over everything, including the gs3 with engine cover

and of couse it only makes sense that it clears the edfc

Carson Toyota sell one that will fit right over the GS430 engine cover. It's a new product by DSR and it costs $200 I am a push of a button away from ordering mine today.
link to the brace: http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1718

Gordon has helped me in the past, great customer service. I bought some clear fog lamp housings from them last week at a great price. My local dealer wanted over $200 each I got mine from Carson for less then $150 each, for some stupid reason the left side is more expensive LOL

Hope that helps
