I have always loved the Lexus GS model, even more so when the new model came out. A little over a year ago I remember thinking that i was going to purchase a used '98 GS300 when they started coming off of lease. I even posted at the townhall at Edmunds trying to find out what I could expect to pay. My wife said to me, "Why don't you just get a GS400, that's what you really want." Of course I wanted it, but I thought it would be too expensive.

When the deal came up to buy my GS400, I could not pass it up. When it comes to used pricing, the difference between a 300 and 400 is not that great. Of course if you are buying new that is different.

I have never driven the GS300, but I have driven the IS300 quite a bit as loaner cars. Would I have been happy with the power of the GS300? You betcha! Am I happier with the power of the GS400? Damn straight.

The only problem with having the GS400 is that I don't think I'll ever be able to drive a car again with less then 300hp...

Default $$$

It looks like im gona get a used GS400(1998). I have a dealer in my apartment building and he'll take me with him to the auction. Prices range from 26-30k on GS400's.
Prices range from 22-27k on GS300's depending on mileage. What year/model do HID's come in?

HIDs have been available on all GS400s from 98 on. However, they were an option, not standard for several years. I believe (not sure on this) they became standard with the '01s.

So, if you are looking for a '98 you're going to have to check whether they are there or not.

Default Steering ECU?

Anyone care to elaborate what that is and what does it do? I'd appreciate web page links and / or pricing information.

Thanks.

Sorry, but my dealer might just be a bit far away. I go to Difeo Lexus in central NJ. Once my wife got an ES300 as a loaner, but I have had 3 different IS300's. Unfortunately, they always have the 16" tires. But it has been a great loaner to car to practice my over steering on
