Help my GS430's ODBII won't talk
Last week I took my car in for its annual emissions test and was told that according to my car’s ODBII, there are “too many unset (not ready) readiness codes”. Or in other words, my car’s computer won’t talk to the state’s computer. I was told to drive about 100 miles and bring it back in for another try. So today I brought the car back and the exact same message came up again. Now I’m told that I need to bring the car back to the dealer to have them figure out what’s going on. My cel light is not on and I’m at a loss for what the problem could be. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing my car’s ODBII from refusing to talk to the state’s computer ? Btw, the car is running just great.

I have not re-set my ecu either. The only thing different about my car this time for inspection vs last time is the install of my 3.76lsd. Is it possible for the OBDII to go bad and not light up the cel?

Well I guess no one knows much about this topic. I've made a service appointment for
this Thursday. I sure hope that whatever it is, it falls under the parts covered for 8 years in emission warrantry and not under the 4 year section.

Very Strange Problem
Your problem is unique. Usually the computer gets its' info from sensors all over the engine and stores them. Things like heated catalysts, 02 sensors evaporative emissions system (the hardest one to set by the way), and EGR (we don't have an EGR, by the way because of VVT-i).
Anyway, all of these codes are erased if the battery is disconnected, or the check engine light gets reset by a scan tool. It has tro start all over again or "MONITOR" the sensors. Here in California, my GS4 gets the sniffer in the tailpipe and the computer hooked up through the OBD-II receptacle under the column near the steering wheel. No time on the treadmill is required.
It can take from hours to days of driving to reset all the monitors. But Califiornia says that at least 5 of the monitors have to be set, or the car cannot be tested. My car ran fine too, but after I reset the computer, I had to wait a week for them to come back online. AUTOZONE can run the scan for you and tell if the monitors are functioning properly.
If the car runs fine, I say run it for a week or so, and if you make enough "cycles", or starts and stops than it will "set". A cycle is a start-up, warm up, drive, and a cool down long enough to have a cold engine, and allow the heated exhaust gas sensors to come back on when you restart the car. After so many cycles with the same result, the monitors will set. If something is wrong in these cycles, it wil not reset.
The highest reading I got on my GS was for NOX. It passed, but in my case, the numbers were high because I had carbon deposits on the valves and pistons. After a top end cleaning, the numbers went down, and the car ran stronger.
I don't think you have anything wrng with your car. Lexus dealers prefer to wait for the "check engine" light before going in to find an emission problem. That has been my experience with Lexus and their emissions policy.

Took it in to the lexus dealer today and the emission check was normal. I was told by the lexus rep that he's only heard of this problem once before and it was on a ford. I guess this is one mystery that will remain a mystery.
