Default Please help a Newbiee w/ proper wheels

Sup to all

Just bought a Pine Green 2001 Lexus GS430 and am considering 19" rims. I'm looking at the Work XSA-02C, Work VS-SS, and the iForged Trial. I don't want to worry about any rubbing at all, and would like to avoid shaving/modifying the wheel wells to do so. That's why I'm considering just 235 or 245 up front and 255 or 265 rear.

Would this work w/ no rubbing? What kind of offset would I need to get a nice lip? and do any of you guys have any pictures of GS4s that have these rims? Thanks a lot for any help you can give, I've already tried to search for this info (either i'm too new and can't figure it out or I just missed it). Which rims look best to you guys?

Work XSA-02C

Work VS-SS

iForged Trial (can't seem to find a pic, but saw it in one of the threads here on the forum)
basically a 5 spoke (w/ the spokes kind of bulged out)

As long as you stay relatively conservative with the offsets and run the normal (instead of the fat) tire setup, you will be OK with the 19s. 245/275 tires will be fine too.

I've got 245/40-18's all around - I believe my offset is 38. Now I wish I'd gone with a fat 245/40-19's to better fill out the enormous wheelwell

Pine,

My girlfriend had the Work VS-SS on her (now sold) NSX. IMO they are a little 'too open' for the GS. Great looking wheels and quality, but I think the XSA or Iforged will look better IMO.

haha thanks guys for refering to my guideline, hope that helps. anyway, just like my guide said, as long as you get the right offset and tires, there is NO way you will rub with 19s, you will be in the perfect condition

and for the rims, personally i like the Work XSA-02C a lot

The Work wheels are great. I almost ordered the XSA-02T for my '85 MR2- they definitely look cool in the bigger diameters. I was a bit concerned because I was ordering 17s- they don't look quite as cool in the smaller diameters!.

Ultimately, Work said they could build the XSA-01T in 4x100 for me, so I went that route 17x8 + 17x9. Also ordered 17x8 + 17x9 VS-XX for my brother's Corolla GT-S - 4" lip on the rear!!!!!!!.

The only bummer about the Work wheels- the wait. Expect 4-8 weeks. They can/will do special offsets for you, but I suspect they have a GS fitment that is a slam-dunk.

The wait isn't a big deal for me, my MR2 has been under construction for two years now... but I need to have the wheels on it so we can stretch the fenders (before painting the car) for a perfect fit.

Be sure to post pics!!

You should talk to chuckb. He's been looking at various wheel options for his midnight pine pearl 01 GS430. I'm sure he'll chime in soon.

Of those models that you listed, I would also recommend the Trial. The wheels can be optioned to conservative specifications to avoid any fender mods, etc etc.

EMAIL ME , and we can figure our your options, I'll also give you an idea on pricing.

You can click the links in my sig to see more wheel choices!

Default Thanks

Thanks guys for all the help cuz i wanna take my time and figure out EXACTLY what I want on this car since it's gonna be a keeper for a while.

chuckb: my interior is that beige/tan color. I'm surprised at how small the number is of GS4s w/ this color. Guess everyone likes the silver better or something. Yeah, it's funny, everyone thinks its black. A buddy of mine even rode in it a few times during the day and at nite, and didn't notice it until the sun directly hit it one day.

D2: I will contact you soon to get an idea of how the iForged Trials would fit. I like those, but am kiiiiiiiinda leaning toward the XSA wheels (but very slightly).

all i want to say is make sure you study as much as you need and spend as much time as you can to make sure you get the stuff you want. do not settle for anything else, just the stuff you want. that's the best return you can ask for
