Picked up new GS430 1 week ago. The dealer asked $600 for car tinting

Can any of you recommend good tinting shop in NY city (Queens preferrable) or within 30 miles?

How dark you want your tints? If you read earlier posts , you will notice the problems with cops in NYC about tints. Though I know a good place in brooklyn, that would do all your windows for $350-$400.

Got mine done at the dealer, around $400 bucks. Dieselman is right though, depending on where you are and how dark you go cops'll hassle you for them.

GS430 GUY

I picked my GS430 up as well 1 week ago and I am also in need of a good tinting place. I am in Great Neck, so anything in Nassau or Queens would be great, but some place in the NYC vicinity will be appreciated. Plan on going 20% all around except front windshield. I'm working on the doctor's note so any cops that pull me over can be on their way and leave me alone

I have 20% all around on my gs. Had it done by a place in brooklyn called Guarantted Alarms on Coney Island ave. Never had better tints then these and I paid around $200 for it. Definitly a good place to get your tint done!

I am looking to get 35% front and 20% rear. Do you think it will look good on GS?

I had this set up on Millenia for 3 years and had no problem in nyc. For Millenia, I had my tint done for $200 in one of the shops in Queens, it was almost perfect, but the guy who used to do it doesn't work there any more.

I had the same setup done on mine, I was too worried about having to deal with what dieselman's gone through. Second, my car has a black interior so at night with the roof/sunshade closed its still pretty tough to see inside. **"edited out" I'll try and post some pics if you're not in too much of a hurry.**

Go to the gallery and under the GS pics do search for johnsgs, it should bring up 2 pics of my car before L-Tuning, but includes rims, tint and spoilers.

Hello everybody the best tints place in Brooklyn is definitely the one Deniska mnetioned Guranteed Alarm or something and it is found on Coney Island Ave and right on the corner of V. Just under 200! Unbelieable job! Take my word for it.

Or, if you want to venture out into NJ, go see the guys down at Sounds Impossible in the Atlantic Highlands. (732 291 8808) They have a tint guy, "Freak Show" Ed (don't ask, you don't want to know), that comes in on appointment only. He is from Florida, reasonably priced, and awesome work quality. He has tinted several show cars for me (as well as everything else I have driven in the past) and never one piece of dirt in anything. Also, he does the back window in one piece so there are no seams. Also, he takes the tint to the very top of the window (on roll downs) and it never peels up. I don't know how he does it, but he does.

And if you need stereo work, these guys are probably the best on the East Coast, one of the best in the country. I am an IASCA competitor and with their work I was 2nd in the world in 1999. The GS is the next car that will be done for competition, design phase at this point in time. Another car they have done (Amateur class) just went to Arizona to compete with Experts at the Wild West Shootout sponsored by CarSound magazine and did very well, proving that he was as good as they were.
