Take the GS4. The GTO may have good power but it is boring to look at. As someone said it is in "sheeps clothing" which to me means UGLY. If you want a quality car with some get up and go then the GS is for you. If you want power and speed then get a vette.

If chevy got desperate and did a 299 a month lease deal on the 05 GTO I think that would be worth it. The interior is very nice (although still not a lexus) and they are VERY comfortable for every day driving according to more than one of their owners.

Resale value is extrememly poor and reliability is not great either but that is what a warranty is for, right?

I would still take the GS4 just because I love bigger luxo-cruisers that have some muscle to back up what they look like. If this was a 'gs4 or m5' (older bodystyle) thread I would definitely be making a different decision.

I saw the GTO at the autoshow a couple of weeks ago. The engine is the only thing that is plus. The quality of the materials used in the interior is not even close to my GS4. There is no navigation option. The exterior looks too close to its G6, Grand Prix, Bonneville..... I need the convience of a four-door and GTO is two-door. I'll take the GS4.

Dont buy the GTO!!! i test drove one and they drive like a older car..the interior is so cheap. pedals feels like it needs some grease. i actually got the chance to DYNO the car it self... ( the 6.0 version) 320 REAR WHEEL HP. and according to the computer Data.. they said it runs mid 13s. but dont get me wrong.. they do look nice and have potential.. but i will consider the camaro SS LS1. $33,000+???? come on... way over priced.

i can't believe you guys are even comparing a GTO vs. a GS, they're not even in the same class/league. as least compare it w/ GM's luxury division, Cadillac. a better comparo would be w/ the CTS-V (which i drove at GM's autoshowinmotion), awesome acceleration but the interior feel and quality is just not there. i also drove the GTO, totally boring looks and terrible interior/ergonomics. the CTS-V had better power than the GTO, at least from the seat of my pants.

If acceleration is what you want just get a C6 vette then, or for the ricers a WRX-STi or Evo. but for decent power and luxury and reliability, then the GS is the way to go (the M5 would be my first pick, except for the reliabilty and price aspect).

Since I drive a GS430, and I have driven the '05 GTO, I have to say the GTO is better than you might think. It's also more refined than you might think. The GTO's power is excellent, and you can get a 6M. I also agree, however, that the CTS-V would be a better comparison.
