Default Opinion needed PLEASE!!!

im planning to get the HP design evo rims, either 18" or 19". I would like to keep the stock suspension ride but i dont want to have a big gap between the fenders the the wheel. I know 18" runs alot better than 19" in terms of ride but 19" looks alot better without drop. And i have heard from members here that with L-tuned shocks and springs, the ride with 4 to 5 people in the car on the freeway isnt too comfy. I would like to get 18" with stock suspension but how would that look? It would be helpful if someone has picture of 18" dropped/stock height and 19" dropped. Thanks.

245/40/18 is same outside tire diameter as stock. 245/45/18 would be about an inch larger diameter than stock

look and comfort, youare going to sacrifice one, simple as that. as you lower the car, the comfort is definitely degrading. might be little but that's still the case. so it's your car. the car with a drop, even on 17s, would look better for sure

If you are going to do aftermarket wheels and tires you will need to lower it, imho. If you dont it wont look right, 4 x 4. If you are really worried about the ride quality and dont want to lose it then I say stay with the stock wheels and stock suspension. If you want the wheels and drop bad enough you are going to be willing to lose some ride comfort

I am in the same situation as alvinn, wanting to go with bigger wheels but not lose that comfort and transporting 4-5 people in the car.
Definitely it will need to be dropped. So to compensate for the harsh ride, like what chuckb mention going with the 45's This is what I will do whenever I get 18s also

Here you will find my GS4 with 18s and 245/40/18 with stock suspension.

There is more tire noise compared with the original 16s. The ride is still very good with the soft stock suspension. If you search in the suspension section of GS430/400/300 forum, you will find threads with the l-tuned suspension installed.

I think it looks good for stock suspension-245-40-18, right?

did you notice any decrease in acceleration and did the handling get a little crisper?

A drop will make it looks better. Lexus service here wants $700 to install the l-tuned springs/shocks. GS4 has plenty of ponies to move these 245/40/18s. I'm not doing many rabbit starts because the recent gas prices The stock 16" tire/wheel is four pounds lighter than my 18s (44 vs 48) . The handling is better because my new 18" wheel/tires are wider than stock. Majority of my drving are on the highways and I believe the stock GS already exceeded .8 G in cornering.

imho if you get 18s and still get teh "fat" setup, that looks pretty weird, coz' the tire are so thick the wheels don't looke lik 18s anymore imho
