Default The solution is...

Just drive over 80mph all the time! You do it all the time on the Chicago Xpressways so you have fun and fix the problem all at the same time.

You guys don't honestly beleive it's an error in putting the wheel on do you? It just happens everyone is putting these on wrong, including the dealers? If a wheel was off center it would wobble and vibrate at all speeds, not just in a certain range. More importantly if other people are having the same issue as me it doesn't actually happen in any repeatable manner in any speed range. It's almost random times but almost always above 45mph, sometimes in a turn, sometimes not etc. This is not an out of balance tire, bent rim, rotor etc. This is something else.

Sup guys,

This vibration problem is in almost all the GS's I have encountered or heard about.

I bought my first GS in Jan of 01, a 1999 GS400 and it had a vibration problem.

Then a 1998 GS400 - vibration problem
Then a 1999 GS400 again - vibration problem

However, my brother's 2000 GS400 does not have that problem at all.

I have tried new rotors, new tires, alignment, balancing, nothing works, the problem goes away at one speed and develops at another 70-80mph, etc.

If you find a solution, let me know, i have been dealing with it for four years now!

well i have posted about this before, i will just give out some summary

it could be the wheels, and very possible (considering so many of us have aftermarket setup, etc...), but at least in my case, it was not the wheels problem. it does affect it, but imho the larger wider wheels only "helped" in exergerating the problems more to be noticed

ended up it's the steering wheel pretensioner, where after it got tightened up, the vibration was completely gone

now i start to have vibration again, and this time it's the bushin. it starts to wear out and crack. i know someone who replaced his control arms and the vibration was gone as well. i am hoping to replace the bushings soon, i am sure that will help

In order to get rotors off I did have to hit with the rubber hammer pretty hard a few times. Maybe that caused it?

i see that you have racing hart cx's on your ride. do you have hub centric rings, if you do they do wear out over time.

put back on the stock wheels and see if it does it. if no vibrations, then it's the racing harts.

good luck.

slim chance it's the lower ball joint?

My Racing Hart are not installed yet. The problem is with my stock rims. What's shocking is that there was not problem before the brake job. The problem started right after. Maybe I put the left on the right side, and right side on the left. These are not directional tires but maybe the wear on the thread is different.

I've fixed the vibration. Finally installed tein flex, daizen, and the 19's. No more vibration. The car handles better too. Recommend this fix for everyone!

I just had to replace 2 of my tires after only 10 months because of these vibrations.

This vibration thing is way too common and such a pain. Anybody know if Lexus has a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) or recall on this issue? Or are they just in denial that there is a flaw here.
