Coin Tray Removal

I want to install a switch on a plate in the coin tray (next to the outside mirror adjustment). How do I remove it from the panel?

Pull out the coin tray, you will see a center metal tab sticking out. Press that center tab down, yank a bit to the left and right and with little wiggling it should come out. The only thing holding it back is the center metal tab.

I think he ment the one on the left side of the steering wheel. You are describing the ashtray. I have a special mod in mind for the ashtray
