Headlight Replacement Question
Hi Everyone
My headlights have condensation and some peeling on the inside. They are the HIDs from a 98 and there isn't anything wrong besides that. I was wondering if it is possible to buy new headlights (on like eBay) which are non-hid to save some money and use just the shell of the new headlight? I would re-use my HID setup and place them on the new headlight shells? hope that makes sense. Do you guys think that will work or are the HID headlights and non HID headlights completely different?
thanks

hid shell and non-hid shells are different.
hid has a different relector and a place to mount your ballast. the d2s bulb is different than the non-hid 9006 bulb.
my advice is to buy new hid shells from carson toyota and swop out all the stuff from your unit to the new.
with ebay, you don't know the true condition.
this swoping out would be labor intensive though since you have to remove the front bumper and go from there.

yup that's correct, you won't be able to fit the hid back on if you get the halogen headlights. everything in the back is different
new hid housing they are about 300 bucks a pair (without computer, ballasts and bulbs, which you dont' need anything), imho that's pretty good price?

Correct me if I'm wrong fellas.
If I were to purchase just the HID housings, I could simply swap all of the bulbs/ ballasts and auto leveling motor over to the new housing right?
That makes the car look so ugly with condensation in the housing.

I bought a brand new HID headlight on ebay (everything except D2R bulb and ballast) for $230 shipped. Is that an alright deal? The seller has more if anyone is interested.
