It's similar to putting black pearl badges on instead of chrome IMO...basically the new lights are darker and have a different texture inside of them that is less reflective. My old ones had some pretty bad scars on them which was a big driver to getting the new ones as well.
I don't have any really good same-lighting pics that I've found yet to show the difference.

I guess you changed the whole unit? Outer lens, interior and HID components too?

How can I get a set of those LED's!! We discussed that dilemma at NOPI last year and although this time around I had the BOV mounted a little differently I was looking under the hood the other day and it still seems as if I may have to remove the bumper just to get to the lights when that dreaded day comes those little Phillips Bluevision wedges of mine burn out
