Default Road noise 99 GS 400

Part of the reason of the road noise is the tires... There call continental conti-sport tire.... Continental... Isn't that a lincoln... I've always used falken or nitto's in the past... I think this tire is all wrong for the car..... can't complain though there practically brand new.......tmf

Interesting. Before I sold my GS, I was considering replacing the Pilot Sport A/S's with Conti extreme contact. I've heard they were great tires and the perfect combination of performance, wet/light snow handling, and comfort. Perhaps the extreme contact are much different than the sport tires you have. They're relatively inexpensive. Why don't you try something else and save the Conti's you currently have for a rainy day.

I've had bad luck with Pilot Sports on my 98GS. The best tire (IMO) is the one I have on now. It's a set of Bridgestone Turanza LSZ. Very quiet and smooth ride which is important for me.

My Pilot Sport A/S's were just okay. If not rotated frequently, they develop serious pulling problems. I don't know much about the Turanza. The Potenza is the stock 17" tire that comes with the car, and I've heard it's a bit noisy. Hey High Miles, you have 16s, right? I think tmf2004 has 17s, but I'm not completely sure.

Yes I have 16". The same rules won't apply to a 17" and the Pilot may be a better 17" tire than the Bridgestone. The two Pilot 16" sets that I had needed to be balanced every 1-2K miles which was a real pain for me and were too noisy for me.

well, imho all performance tires will give the car more road noise, that's just the nature of the summer tires. the gs being a sport sedan, i think that's reasonable
