Danny,

You made this post in the classifieds, it should be in the main forums since you aren't selling anything (moving it).

I searched (try it!) for platinum series and had lots of hits that answered your questiion

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...latinum+series
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...latinum+series

among many other posts you could find just doing a simple search for 'platinum series' in the GS forum....

The info below is for a 2000 Platinum Series GS.

From Lexus Model Library: http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_library.html

Platinum Series

- Bird's-eye maple interior trim and shift ****
- Perforated leather trim on center section of seats
- 16-inch, seven-spoke performance alloy wheels
- Black Pearl badging
- Platinum Series embroidered floor mats
- Power tilt-and-slide moonroof
- In-dash, six-disc CD auto-changer
- High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with dynamic auto leveling
- Heated front seats
- Large chromed exhaust tips

Lol, just kidding. I think we need to get someone with a Platimum series to take a pic of their lights. For some reason I think the series came out before Lexus started playing with the color of the chrome in the headlights. Platinum was only offered up to 2000, right? The one you pictured does look darker though and has the right platinum wheels and badges.

Lexus model library is of no use, it doesn't even list the SportDesign for the new models, and doesn't give the fine details on the Platinum stuff for the 2000 model.

edit:

here's a pic of Johnny Mo's Platinum, but his headlights look normal to me.

are you trying to confuse me, just when I figured it out?
this car is a 2000 GS4 Platinum. here's a different pic.
So what do you mean Dave, that some Plat editions have regular chrome lights?

Nope.

What Lexus did with the headlight housings is pretty confusing. I have not seen a correct formula yet. Most of the major types are handled. It is just these "exceptions". To throw another wrench into this, I believe jawnthen's headlights are darker chrome and his car is a 99.

My 2000GS3 was a platinum edition. When I got my 01 430, I was told that the platinum
was limited to year 2000. btw, we're you the one with the battery going dead shortly before your warranty was up? If so, did Lexus cover it 100%?

Chuck, yeah he is confused or else is just referring to his silver color as platinum.. I saw in another post of his where he was looking for Black Pearl emblems. As you know, Platinum Edition already came with Black Pearl so further indication that his car is not Platinum Editon. Maybe someone just put Platinum Editon floor mats in it or something and got him confused?

umm, didn't he get his headlights replaced when he got his front end repaired?

either case, 99 gs400 hid headlights are darker chrome

Hate to interupt fellas. The Platnium was NEVER made as a 430. The Platnium came with the 16" 7 spoke rims and the badges on the fenders. One of the links shown have a gs with the 16' 6 spoke titanium or aluminum rims. These rims didn't come out until the 2001 models came out standard on gs300 and 430. So if the gs shown is a 2000 then the rims were changed. Good idea, those Platnium rims were ugly as hell. And yes the Sportdesign took over the Platnium, but much better looking. Hope this is a little more help to add to you.
Fairly new to the Club.
GS430 L-Sportline bumpers, grill, skirts, rear window spoiler, Intake, 4" Stainless steel pipes to the cat not just tips. 20"s. 2001 with alittle over 41000 miles. Roughly 345 Horses.
