Default HID's or xenon's for 99 gs 400

? How do i know if my GS 400 has HID"S or xenon lights.... All i know is that they light up the whole road and are a blue light.... Thank you I read on another search forum that the HID"S where an option for the 98-00 GS 400. Probably still is an option for the newer models

tmf I'm pretty sure they are xenon's. Thats what the dealer told me ....

The easiest way to tell is the light output and also when you first turn on your headlights. With HID's they should be a little dim at first and gradually get brighter in a couple seconds. Also the OEM HID's are more white rather than blue in color.
Second part to check is if it came from a dealer, your fog lights should be yellow. If you look at them turned off you'll notice that there is a glass plate between the bulb and the front of the foglight lens.

Hope this helps.

The factory color was in the 4100-4200K range yes, but HID's were not stock on the 400, that was an optional upgrade. In addition to having the yellow fogs with the OEM HID's the head lamps were "self-leveling". When you first turn them on, in additon to taking a second or two to come up to full brightness, you should notice them adjusting the direction in which the beam points. Starts out low, pointing down at the ground and then raises up to shine further out in front of the car.

Yup. This is the quickest way to see if you have OEM HIDs. The auto-leveler is nearly impossible (cost-efective-wise) to retrofit into a non-OEM HIDs car.

Sometimes there are markings on the actual headlight itself. If you do have HID/Xenon headlights it may say D2R on your headlight whereas if you have halogens it may say 9006/HB4.

wat color fog lights do you have? if you have the yellow ones, that is 1 sign that you should have hids. coming from the factory, hid cars come w/ yellow fogs. non hid cars come w/ clear fogs

Easyest way to tell is when you turn on your car the self leveling motors will perform a self check and you will see the light beam on the wall go up and down a few times
