Default 2 interesting things happened to me today.....

For one, I fired up my GS only to be greeted with a CD that was skipping a lot. I figured there was dust or something.
I look down at the NAV unit and it's BLANK. Hmmmm. I push the CD button, nothing happens.

I hit the AUDIO button and now the sound system says it's AUDIO OFF but yet I have *BOTH* radio and Cd playing at the SAME TIME!! "that's new", I think to myself.

i hit the power button and actually turn the audio system off and sure enough, it's finally off. turn it back on and bam, both CD and radio again!

I kinda guessed the next step, as I'm sure some others have as well. I turned the car off, went into my destination, came out 20 min later and when the car was started up, everything was back to normal!

Anyone ever have 2 audio sources simultaneously before?!?!?!

So, then on my way home, I have an open stretch of highway before my turn-off road so I kick it up to ahem.....slightly above triple digit speeds. I get on the brakes HARD, on purpose, and was VERY SUPRISED at the lack of stopping power I was experiencing!!!!!

Around town, sub-70mph braking always seemed very very good. And I've read some magazine times that were very very impressive for such a heavy car.

Now, I've had the car for 2 years (20,000miles)now almost and have done NOTHING with the brakes or fluid. The car was a 4-yr lease vehicle when I got it at 82,000 miles. I have no idea when any kind of previous brake service was completed, but it SEEMS like it might have been as long ago as 60k service.

The pads do not squeal. Braking is straight. New Pirelli P-Zero Nero 17" tires.
the pedal felt, well, a little soft.....hence the feeling of a lack of braking goin on!

So, do you think it's just old fluid oorrrrrr, an excuse to get Big Brakes!!

If you feel like dancing, the stereo flips into DJ mode, allowing you mix sources.

I remember someone else mentioning the cd and radio at the same time, not too long ago. Sorry, don't know who it was though.

Maybe your brake prob was also electrical related? We have that electric brake pressurizer.......

"electric brake pressurizer......."

You pulling my leg? I've not heard of that before! If we have it, it's news to me!

I think Brembo has a $5000 fix for braking issues....... I'll bet StopTech has something too!

no, I'm serious. maybe someone else can chime in on the details. I think there is an electric motor that pressurizes brake system. you can hear it and feel it kick in and out.

i know there is a motor for sure pumping the fluid and such. if you shut down you car you notice more fluid in your resevor, and when you start the car it starts pumping and there are less fluid. now i don't know if it's a pressuriser though

Perhaps it's just another part for the Anti-lock system?

for brakes I would consider at least braided lines, new pads, and maybe having the system bled for starters. GS brakes are notoriously bad.

The braking energy required to stop a car goes up squared as speeds increase.
