My check engine light came on...car still runs fine. However, I was just wondering is there any way I can check the code...On my 94 Rx7 I can jump/bridge a wire at the diagnostic box then I`ll count the number of times the check engine light blinks to find the code....Is this similar for the GS 400
If so, Does anyone has the check light list?
Please advise, Thanks,
Andre

Hello,
I went to Auto Zone and they diagnose the problem to be bank 2 cat. converter. I was thinking of gutting both cat/ precat. These are the ones that are mounted right off the manifold.
Right?
If I was to gut both cats would it make the check engine light stay on?
Thanks again,
Andre

Pre-Cat O2 senors are essential for proper fuel mixture
Post-Cat O2 sensors are just to make sure the Cats are working efficiently
GS400 have a total of four 2 pre and 2 post Cat
Get the actual code from Auto Zone Pxxx
and post it, you are looking at about $100 to replace a sensor.
If you gut the cat and u will need a special sensor to replace/trick the computer to think that the cats are working corectly.

Also check for exhaust leaks around the Cat.
I will attach the DTC Code and in a second post info on testing waveform.

You will need a OBD-II Scanner to reset /clear DTC after the repairs has been completed.
I think you can also reset by disconnecting the battery for a few hours but then the engine/tranny computer will have to relearn your bad driving habits lol
(Autozone can also clear the DTC for you as well depending on thier mood and or if you show them you have replaced the appropriate component(s) to complete the repair)

hello,
I had my starter replaced about a week ago and now i get a check engine light (CEL) warning. I went to autozone to pull the OBD2 code and its the P0430 code.
Autozone's printout says:
- Definition: catalyst efficiency low- bank 2
Probable causes:
1. catalytic converter defective
2. engine misfire or running condition
3. large vacuum leak
4. engine oil leakage into exhauset-valve guide seals, piston rings
do you think this code was caused by the starter being replaced recently? I'm not sure how to test whether its the O2 sensors or the Cat converter....
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
